The food was great, the prices were also fine. Overall, the quality and presentation of food was better than what we expected. The staff was also very nice and polite. I don't know why it's rated under 4 stars, but I'd definitely recommend trying it before believing the bad reviews.Food: 5/5
Love this place and the atmosphere. It's fairly cheap and has delicious food if you order the right things. It has many flaws, but for the price it's hard to fault it. If you go, DON'T order Nachos, go for jalapeño poppers and fajitas. Music is a bit loud so would be bad for a first date, but good for meeting friends. Be very careful not to leave your phone on the table, there are thieves in the area and they will come with weird printouts and try to distract you while they take your phone. Some staff are great, and friendly, but there is a lady who just stands there and does nothing. Not sure what her job is, she just seemed to do nothing apart from chatting the whole time, and ignored us when we tried to order. She definitely works there, but maybe shouldn't I know it sounds not great, but with friends, this place is really fun and tasty.
My partner and I came here on New Year’s Eve, and were very surprised to see all of these mixed reviews after we left! Service was outstanding and we felt very well cared for by staff. We had the nachos, veg enchiladas and a chicken burger and thought the food was really nice and great portions. Lovely ambience in the restaurant and once again, we were blown away by the friendly and attentive staff. We also really enjoyed the margarita pitcher. Of course, prices are about £8 - £12 a plate, but it’s hard to find anywhere in London these days that isn’t in this price range! Really enjoyed our visit.
Been trying to check this place out for a while now and i finally got to which is really good Plus ive never been to a mexican restaurant before so i decided to try it out. The venue is definately really great its got a mexican vibe to it the place is clean the music is great. The staff were really accomadating and just all round friendly and easy to talk to which i always love Also the fact desperados isnt a chain makes it even more exciting to write about. I decided to go for the Ribs, wings and chips Where as my friend tried out the vegi wrap. The food was definately banging the ribs were super nice some of the best ribs ive had. The wings were good not the best ive had but they were definately tasty only little issue is that they only gave 3 wings i think 5 would have been better only tiny issue. The chips/fries which ever term you prefer were honestly some of the best ive had in ages. Personally i dont think many restaurants do good chips/fries in the uk. My friend seemed to really enjoy his vegi wrap which is also great Its somewhere where its great for a friday and saturday night. Would i come back again to Desperados Definately really like the venue, the staff, the food it really is amazing. Looking forward to my next visit.
Love the decor and mexican vibes. There's music atmosphere on Fridays and Saturdays. The chilli chicken nachos wete exquisite and liked the burritos. Cocktails could be better and the pitcher had no fruit garnish I requested some lime - however when you order a glass you get an orange slice. I preferred the cream banana liqueur cocktail with a pineapple touch. Vegetarian options: Nachos Cheese / Queso croquette
The food here was amazing and an 11/10 however the restaurant is let down by the service and staff and we wouldn’t visit again. We asked for water 5 times across the meal which we didn’t get until we asked to take the service charge off, we both ordered spicy food and alcohol so tap water would be an expectation. In addition to this, there were times on the bill we hadn’t ordered and we had to ask for the bill 3 times. The service charge of 12% cannot be taken off despite the poor service we received. Free shots were offered instead but we went for a date not a night out so shots are not wanted. It’s a shame as the food and venue was so nice.
Food was meh but we were quite unhappy with everything else. Apologies for the long review but I only write reviews like this when I feel that it is deserved and others also need to know. -We asked for 2 of the same cocktail, they both came back lukewarm. 1 cocktail was 50% drink 50% foam take a look at the attached picture. We sent back the foamy drink because it was ridiculous, they apologized and brought a new drink which was 30% foam, and was again too much, it felt like drinking a pint of beer. We were too annoyed at this point to ask for a third cocktail so we left it as is. Later on we ordered a different cocktail hoping it will be better but this one also came lukewarm. -my chicken taco had uncooked beef on top of the chicken. I just did not eat that section since getting help from the waiter was impossible at this point. -Staff was very confused the whole time, they repeated our orders many times to get it right but couldn't, we only ordered 2 mains and nothing else, I honestly don't understand how they could get confused with only 2 orders. In the end, we asked for the bill which came back £30 more than it was supposed to, because the staff added other items in our bill we had only ordered tacos. We asked them to bring a new bill which again confused the waiter and asked us to repeat our 2 mains and didn't understand what was wrong. Finally when we got the correct bill, we saw that they added a service charge of £8. I asked to only pay £4 since I thought the service was not good enough to pay the full amount. The staff got very rude and basically caused a scene saying "yes there were issues but we fixed them", and demanded we pay the bill + entire service charge. I said the service charge is discretionary and we think £4 on top of the total of the bill is enough and they cannot force us to pay the entire service charge. At this point the waiter got very rude and started talking to us very disrespectfully. We just paid everything and left after this since we do not want to get in an argument or anything like that. -they have the same 5 songs playing over an over, albeit this could be a one time thing where they had a problem with their playlist.
Chimi Chimi Let’s play a game… Never have I ever! Never have I ever, had a chimichanga! Well not till now! We have broken my chimichanga virginity and omg I understand what all the fuss was about. Desperado’s is a lovely little Mexican place in Angel, where on a hot summers day you have the opportunity to sit outside. If it also happens to be a Tuesday then ladies enjoy that happy hour! Ladies were sipping cocktails for 4.95! I will not say that the cocktails were amazing because honestly I’ve had better and that’s why they get four stars. But for 4.95 I know the lady wasn’t complaining! Better then a whetherspoons though. No shade. The food is what we went for! Our starters were prawns forgot to take a pic as I was ravenous in a little skillet dish that came with two tortilla wraps. Was an excellent starter! A little messy as the prawns were in a tomato chilly sauce…. Have a napkin in your lap is all I will say. The mains were the main event! The chimichanga was cooked to perfection! Not oily and was bursting literally with cheese and filling! You can get either chicken, beef or veggies! It comes with rice, salad, guacamole, sour cream and Mexican/seasoned beans. As veggie/Pesci I was in my element! I love beans! Was a good sized portion, not too much that I couldn’t finish and felt bloated. But not too little that I wanted to eat more. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They were very helpful in answering our questions about what to order. Would recommend for sure! I will say that their Mexican zombie did almost Floor me though… so if you do go for cocktails order that!

Very nice food! For sure not light because was all deep fried but really teasty. Also the quality is very high and the beer is original! Good costumer service and clean restaurant For sure I’ll be back!
