Story

Design & Alter’s tailors and seamstresses provide expert tailoring advice, clothes alterations & invisible mending to London’s finest fashion houses, luxury retailers, private clients and fashion PR teams. We have expertise in dress alterations, restyling, made to measure, bespoke tailoring and dress design.
Established in 1992 by a fine arts graduate with home sewing skills and ambition, Design & Alter (formerly Designer Alterations), has grown from a living room to the leading retail and private specialist clothing alterations studio, not only in London but in the whole of the UK.

Bride & Alter were wonderful -  amazing work on my wedding dress and they made the whole process enjoyable and calm. Would highly recommend.

A bit out of the way, but absolutely worth the journey! Beautiful work every time: they are as adept moving up the cuff of a bomber jacket as they are tapering a trouser for the ultimate fit. Lads,  these are the best trouser alterations in London. Ask for Eva - she's amazing.
