Story

A local family owned home and DIY retail business for over 28 years.

One of the few last independent DIY shops in the UK

David originally setup the business with a close friend Neil back in 1985. They owned a smaller DIY store within the town but outgrew the premises in the summer of 1988. They relocated to Compton Street and renamed the business as 'David Neill'. Neill left the business a couple of years later to pursue other interests but David stayed on through the years.
There's been many changes on Ashourne’s high street over the past 28 years, the town has expanded and brought in competition from the large national chains on an out of town retail park, and the emergence of internet shopping now means the high street is a quieter place.

David is retiring this year (2017) but his two sons Mark and Jordan will carry on the business in a similar fashion that’s proved so popular with local people and tourists over the many years.

David Neill strive to excel in customer service and offer a great range of home and garden products at often unbeatable prices. And there knowledgeable staff are always on hand to give their expert advice when needed.
