Too much chlorine in Jacuzzis, and fail to repair things quickly if ever. But also great classes included in membership. A tad pricey perhaps. But would defo recommend if looking to shift gear health wise helped me quit smoking.
Good gym. Plenty of different classes and court types. Enormous car park - very rare to see it completely full. Indoor and outdoor pool. The usual David Lloyd lounge, but increasingly tired decor compared to Derby. Cheaper than the clubs in Derby or Bridgford but they get more investment. Can get very busy around peak and changing rooms could do with an upgrade.
The club facilities are slightly above the councils; but inferior compared to virgin active or Nuffield healthcare Not really worth the membership fees being charged because it's not very prestigious. The reception area is the only part of the centre thats been significantly updated, the rest of the club is set in the late 2000s era. The facilities aren't maintained particularly well; multiple flickering carpark lights; broken disabled shower; hole in the ceiling above the swimming pool; and what they choose to fix usually takes weeks. There aren't many benches in the male changing rooms; so expect a member to throw their dirty garments on your clean belongings whilst getting changed. I joined with my family and the family changing rooms are decent sized with a play pen in, sink / mirror, hair dryer, urine smell, broken shower holders and no soap. The staff turnover is relatively high; so some staff are extremely kind and helpful, whilst others lack any customer service or hospitality skills. In summer time the outside pool is amazing, so DL will do the £14 for 14days promotion and overwhelm the club facilities and restrict members entering. The sauna and steam room are small compared to the councils, but the courts appear decent. There's a children's play area which is very good, just beware of the grumpy members on their laptops who choose to work in the noisiest area of the club instead of the adults area or at home Overall score would be 60% - due to the club being expensive and out dated
Unprofessional and rude customer service. They give you misleading information on the phone to get your money but the reality is far different. And when you complain, it’s your word against them. No wonder they keep offering the non-refundable 14 days £14 to attract people, no one in the right state of mind would stay there more than that. I’m pregnant and just wanted to use the swimming pool for 15mins relaxing walk in water for couple of days before having the baby, they left me with such an upsetting experience that I prefer to not go back there or even bother to complain. No one deserves to be treated poorly, I can’t prove but some serious discrimination going on there. :
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I never write reviews but I had to this time because its genuinely sickening. I have tried to cancel my membership over a month ago, yet they are not responding to my emails or phone calls. On the rare occasion they do, they tell me to wait for a response from another team member, which I never receive and the cycle continues. I would not recommend this club to anyone!
David Lloyd Nottingham continues to get worse as time goes on. As a health club that prides itself as being "A leading Health, Sport and Leisure provider" the standards are unacceptable. On my last visit somebody had failed to reach the toilet and decided to release their feces in the shower which spread across all of the other shower cubicals. This is beyond a joke, I am a platinum member. I am not paying the money I pay for things like this to occur continuously, along with the continuous poor service myself and many other members receive. The prices have increased but the facilities/service has decreased. This includes less opening time, reduced classes, reduced equipment, bar and resturaunt time reduced, issues with hot water and towels on a frequent basis! I may aswell cancel my platinum membership and live off the frequent 14 day and 3 month trial membership as it is better value for money than signing up for the top membership package.
If you are thinking of joining, book an appointment with Megan. She was very helpful, patient and super friendly. Remember to mention my name when booking in case there's a referral discount ;
Club hiked the fees by 10.5% without warning. Tried to leave, no one is replying to my persistent emails and messages. Get fobbed off to contact the team on the app, with no response at all!
What an absolute disappointment DL Aspley has become. Constant out of order facilities: water fountains, toilets, showers, health suite and lockers to name a few. Scales are missing in the men's changing rooms, broken furniture, only one hair dryer and never any tissues. You would expect at least the basics from a "premium" gym. Save your money and go elsewhere.
They took money from my account without permission. Zero facilities for disabled people. Most of the equipment is broken. The place is generally dirty and unhygienic, especially the changing room, shower room and steam room - it also smells a lot like sewage in the changing rooms. No option for zero star, so I left one star.
