It's nice that Croydon has this cinema. It's a real asset for a town centre that is being decimated at every turn. It's unique in that it's tucked away, even though it's in the very centre, just by the Town Hall. With just 65 seats, it's very independent-minded, with a screening more or less daily. The staff really want to assist. I shall definitely return.
Hidden gem in clocktower above Croydon library. Intimate 65 seater cinema, frequently screening foreign language and indie films and occasionally mainstream big budget. Completely run by volunteers. Bar area with hot and cold drinks and a small variety of snacks. It is permitted to take these into the cinema. Always a wonderful experience.
I found out about this cinema in 1998 while I frequented at the library, and watched many great movies there. I try to donate when I can. It’s a beautiful place and I would certainly recommend it.
Absolutely amazing ! I can not believe this cinema has been on my doorstep for many years and I haven’t been there. Last night myself a couple of friends went and was so impressed. Its so clean, seats were very comfortable and amazing helpful staff/volunteers. I Have booked to go back again soon.
They show a wide range of enjoyable films. I don't like the big multiplexes, and feel the environment in the David Lean is much friendlier. It's easy to get to using public transport and ticket prices are low.
I love this cinema so much that I started volunteering! It’s clean, comfortable and cosy, and shows a number of excellent diverse films that other nearby cinemas don’t. I’m a regular there now, as are my family. My friends from afar have also visited and are impressed by it. They wish they lived nearer!
Intimate art house cinema run by volunteers. All the films you'll never see at Vue. Also has Babes in Arms, Dementia, Relaxed screenings for the younger audience and Films on 35mm
A small film theatre in the municipal building complex of Croydon Council. Named after the late great Director who hailed from Croydon. A group of volunteers work hard to keep it going. However, it's slightly uncomfortable to be honest. But it's good to support an independent local venue.
Small but pleasant. A very civilised experience and some good film options.
I've just discovered this little gem - what a find!! I don't live in Croydon, but it's easy to get to; the seats were very comfortable and the staff were friendly. I love the fact that it features a good selection of independent films, which are usually only available to watch in Central London. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
