I have been a patient for the last two years at Darren Bywater. Before this I stopped going to my previous dentist in 2010 due being so scared I couldn’t even sit in a waiting room without having a panic attack. My fear of the dentist started when I went to a emergency dentist due to having ‘ear ache’ for two years. The doctors explained it would be best to go to the dentist to see if there was a problem. I was held down as they took a filling out of my tooth with no anesthetic. Since then i wouldn’t let anyone come near me unless I was told I could be put to sleep. A friend explained to me that she had a really good dentist and I should give them a go. On my first appointment I was very nervous and upset but I had a scale and polish and was booked in for some X-rays. The only reason I managed to go through the scale and polish was because Sam the dentist explained everything that was going to happen and let me hear the noise that I would hear. I came out of the appointment and felt so proud, the only reason I went through it was due to the professional and empathy that Sam and the nurse gave to me. I went yesterday to my six month check up and I explained I had a pain in my tooth, he checked and explained I would need a filling. When I first heard that I felt the instant fear one back from my past and was overcome with emotions. Sam did exactly what he does everytime and explained everything to the finest detail and said we can try and if it’s too much we can stop. I managed to go through the procedure and it’s something I have never been able to do without being put to sleep. I didn’t even have to have an anesthetic. If anyone is scared of the dentist I would highly recommend Darren Bywater. It is nothing like a dentist from the second you walk in. All the staff are so polite and helpful and I can say they have all helped me overcome my fear. Thank you!

The team at Darren Bywater Dental Care are very welcoming and friendly. The reception staff are very helpful and go above and beyond, and the dentists are patient and caring with warm personalities that make you feel at ease. The practice is clean and modern with a relaxing ambience and no typical 'dentist' smell that you find elsewhere.

I was referred to Darren from a specialist at the maxilliofacial unit and he is by far the best dentist I have been to (and I have been to a lot in the last 17 years). His work is exceptional and he managed to make the whole situation humourous even when having something quite invasive done. All in all, a great dentist who obviously cares for his work and makes you feel comfortable and confident in his ability within minutes.

If I could give 6 stars for this practice, I would! What a great team! After years of neglect, smoking and being terrified of going to the dentist, my teeth were in a poor state. Eventually I gave up smoking, found myself a dentist I could trust and learned how to look after them properly. The damage was done though and I started wearing dentures when I was in my early 40s. I hated them and, even worse I kept breaking them. After breaking my new gold-reinforced denture on a prawn chow mein, I decided enough was enough and consulted Darren Bywater with a view to having implants. Right from the outset, I was filled with confidence that Darren would look after me and provide the solution to my problem teeth. Although there has been a small issue requiring remedial work, almost two years since that initial visit I can only say that I am delighted with the outcome. Highly recommended.

The reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful and make you feel at ease All the dentists and hygienists I've had contact with are extremely professional but at the same time they always have time to listen to your concerns and make you feel comfortable an excellent dental surgery
