I attended an 128 person Digimon Card Game Fest event which was a major tournament. It was my first time attending the store. From first appearances it seems very small. This is because the entrance is in the main shopping centre and leads down via escalator to the store itself which is in the basement. The store is huge! Plenty of seating and tables for a huge array of table top games and card games. 3 sides of the store are wrap around counters with displays of card game packs and products, board games, models, figures and a huge array of hobby products. Pricing is extremely competitive on par with online only retailers. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. It can get crowded when a big event is running, but don't be put off if you are there browsing as staff are still there to help behind the counters. Only downside for me as an event attendee was there are no toilet facilities in the store you have to go out and use the shopping centre facilities which were partially faulty throughout the day. Food offerings are limited too and the store doesn't allow you to bring your own food or drink.
Dark Sphere is exactly the place to go if you're into table top gaming and minature painting. You can book the tables to play in store with friends and specific game nights. They offer great prices on minis and paints, even when compared to prices online. It also stays open way past office hours. There's a semi-decent collection of board games on sale and to rent, and they sell a few figurines. They do have a good selection of card protectors and you can buy and sell single MTG cards. The room could possibly do with better ventilation and the website needs to be updated to match current stock.
Best hobby store in London! Friendly and knowledgeable staff with competitive prices. Decent stock of TCGs and other tabletop games. Biggest issue is the lack of toilets. You can't charge people a table fee to play instore or organize all-day tournaments with 100s of attendees with no toilet facilities whatsoever. Sure, the shopping center the store is located has a public toilet but it's on the other side of the building and often closed especially in the evening/night - which is the only time when Dark Sphere is open.
Wonderful place! Got Pokémon tcg, Magic… couldn’t be better!
Made a online order for citadel paints with these guys arrived with no problems and well packaged competitively priced very happy and will be ordering again
Lack of organisation and customer service. Went there today looking for some miniature bases and was generally disappointed. Upon opening the shop to customers, at least 5-6 trusses of merchandise were left stacked in a corner of the store, concealing a good chunk of the products in one corner. They have a good selection of merchandise, but good luck finding anyone to sell to you. Was waiting for someone to sell on the paints and brushes section for 15 mins. Eventually grabbed the paints I wanted to enquire about and headed over to the card section, was initially ignored, then told I had to go over to the front of buy or ask a question. Without uniforms and/or name tags it's impossible to tell who works there or not. Empty boxes and lack of inventory everywhere. Was there a few weeks ago asking about an rpg rule book, was told by the clerk they didn't stock it, then literally found it myself 10 mins later by accident. Most of the merchandise is kept behind the counter, not a huge problem, but with no organisation and not enough staff to sell to you or show you merchandise this makes it difficult to browse. Tables are okay, but good luck playing dnd with friends in an immersive campaign while 20-30 people are surrounding you trying to buy. In my opinion, there should be better separation between the store sections and the tables with a better emphasis on customer service. Don't reccomend.
The best place for geeks in London, amazing!
They don't let you touch the products that are hidden behind barricades. It stinks and is like a hoarders cave full of clutter and mess. Staff are unfriendly and unorganised and don't care to help you.
It's a wonderful place for all the wargaming and card hobbies aficionados. it's hidden and a little bit chaotic at the beginning but the staff it's lovely and the people around very welcoming.
Good staff, great space, has product you need for your favourite card game, all and all a must visit
