If you are novice, looking for light walks with nice greenery then this place is great. It's small yet enough to have a decent walk, pretty little lake and places to sit and rest and enjoy picnics. Toilets were SUPER clean so this was a great
Good day for visiting a country park 22.01.2022. Two large lakes, 1 smaller lake. Fed the ducks and watched the seagulls ice skating on the lake! Nature trail to follow. Public toilets which are very clean. Park is free to enter but parking is £2 for the first hour. Lovely walk but not much else to do besides admire nature and feed the ducks. Lots of benches dotted around along along way.
Absolutely love coming here! So much to offer. Woods, Lakes and Parkland! So much space to roam. Enjoy visiting the Lakes and so much Wildlife. Great place to take young Children to feed the Ducks. Lots of picnic areas in the Country Park . Very cheap parking via an App! Absolutely beautiful!
Another good park especially for 4 legged animals yes also kids loves it too. Its free to enter but need to pay for parking and I paid £4.70 for all day and there are other options for other hours too. I think some people will spend 2 to 3 hrs here but we stayed 4hrs plus, that's for having our pack lunch and spending time taking pictures. Plenty of parking space. There are 2 parking areas, one in the centre of the park and the other east side. Worth a visit.
We went as a family 4 for a little picnic. There are no Pay as you Park machines due to vandalism and the Parking App had crashed. We managed to get through to the Park Warden. Although a stressful start, all was resolved. I'm pleased that the Parking charges are reinvested back into the park but I wonder if the charges are a little steep for what is on offer. There is a variety of open space, woodlands and lakes to explore. The open spaces are great for picnics, playing the kids, a spot of sunbathing or reading a book. There are looks of little nooks and crannies in the woodland which are fun to explore. One takes you to the old Icehouse, fun but slightly creepy. The fishing lake looked like it could use a little TLC. As did some of the gardens but the Palace. The toilets by the Rangers Hut were in very good condition for public toilets. There is an ice cream van who serves ice cream and hot food. Her sign says that they served hot food, but we stuck to icecreams! I'm a little surprised that there isn't a tea room on the estate as I think this would make a wonderful addition. There didn't seem to be many bins. But that being said I didn't see much rubbish either. So either very careful visitors, very attention rangers or a mixture of both. I would recommend for a sunny day out, a picnic and a wander.
It's like a playground for kids and dogs. Maybe avoid early Sunday mornings if you don't like large dogs because a group of German Shepherd rescue dogs tend to meet there. There are two car parks which charge for parking. Alternatively you can park off Well Lane in Danbury if you don't mind a bit of a walk to avoid parking charges. There are two toilets located near the car parks, although only the toilet near the Lakes car park is open all year round.
Lovely place to walk the dog and watch the sun go down with a flask of coffee.
£2 for 1h parking is quite pricey, especialy when compare to the time it take to walk through whole park. There is a map but paths especialy woodland area are not marked so you don't know which way to go. Not bad, but could be better.
Wonderful Essex County Council run park. There’s an ice cream van that parks in the Lakes carpark during weekends and holidays. Public toilets in the Lakes Carpark or down by the lake. Fantastic area for den building, small stream for paddling or boat sailing. Meadows, woodlands, more formal gardens around the lake and outdoor classroom used for school trips.
Took the family for a picnic. Made the most of it as cold as it was. Lovely place. Could do with an interactive map. Easy to get lost if you don't have a good sense of direction
