Worst curry I've had in a long time. Baby food with bits. Overpriced. Ordered the chef's veg platter and received 5 deep fried dog biscuits for £7.50. Total £43.99
The best dosas in Exeter bar none. Also all desserts and chutneys homemade. Fab!
The food was really good. You'll definitely like this if you've been to Kerala or elsewhere in South India. As you can tell from the other reviews, opinion is divided but I'd say if you're expecting a British-style curry then here's not really the place. I've been to South India and adored the food there and the Curry Leaf is pretty authentic and really tasty.
We had the Chicken curry made with roasted coconut and lamb with spinach. Flavours were impressive. Thought the portions were adequate. Courteous young waiter, very attentive. Bit more pricy that your average curry house but this is south Indian curry. Thought it was worth it. Will be back.
First time I have had Southern Indian food. The cuisine is less spicy and hot than it's northern neighbour's tending towards Thai. I enjoyed it although I found the portions small for the price. My meal was spoiled however by the surroundings. In my view the decor is inappropriate and very tired. It was more suited to a cafe. There was no atmosphere,no ambiance. At this lunchtime there were no tablecloths and only paper napkins. It's such a shame,it could be so good.
Don’t be put off by the bright ceiling lights and decor - the South Indian food here is exquisite. Everything is freshly made, light and tastes delicious. The food is very reasonably priced and the service is excellent. It is also open much later than other restaurants on the same street. I heartily recommend Curry Leaf!
The food has been delicious every time I have been to Curry Leaf. The interior is a little unusual.. but it seems to draw a seasoned, regular clientele who know what good, well-prepared, authentic south Indian food tastes like.
Very good southern Indian restaurant. I started with the Masala Dosa, which is the best I've had outside of Londons Rasa 55 Stoke Newington Church St, Stoke Newington, London N16 0AR. For main I had the Malabar Chicken Masala, which I would recommend to anyone who isn't familiar to southern Indian Kerala style curry, a very good blend or spice and coconut flavours. Good value for money also, definitely making a trip back soon.
Excellent food and friendly service. The decor is just ok - location was a cafe prior to it becoming The Curry Leaf and it's been updated just enough. Who cares when the food is this good. My favourite Indian restaurant in Exeter.
A bit pricier than the other local curry joints but well worth it. The curries are not what you typically expect ie don't all taste the same and with wonderfully nuanced flavour and spicing. Especially recommend the fish curries.
