The curry cafe Chicken tikka, The first picture on the left hand side we have a chicken tikka starter. The chicken tasted nice, along with the mint sauce and a fresh side salad. Overall it was nice I throughly enjoyed it. The chicken was juicy and tender . Mixed kabab, The picture on the right hand side is a "mixed kabab" DEEP FRIED. Hmm, not sure on that idea, it tasted ok but, I was expecting it to be cooked differently. There was only fried chicken tikka, no lamb kofta & no lamb shish with a side off tomato chilli sauce which tasted quite nice not over powering just how I like it! overall it tasted ok, wasn't keen on the onion bhaji. It didn't look the best either. Very disappointed with this dish. The price I paid for this dish is £5.50. Sorry guys, I wasn't impressed. The guys were lovely and welcoming very smiley. Would I come back? Maybe, I will have to try your curryit did look nice when another customer received their meal. Overall rating
Wow, never had the curry and the rice served In the same dish, was a bit like a big mush. I like to keep my rice separate and add the curry to it. The nan was nice but the popodome was like folded into quarters.sorry not what I was expecting. Oh well tried once and never again. Web site nice, reality a bit different.
Have you walked by here and thought, "Oh, there's another cheap and cheerful curry house!"? Well, you were wrong - but that's alright; because there's still time to see the error of your ways. Curry Cafe serves up delicious Indian fare to a culinary standard one would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. The service was impeccable. The location: unbeatable. I've never been so pleasantly surprised and impressed. I highly recommend a visit. The Bombay Aloo and Onion Bhaji were my particular favourites. We'll be back for sure.
Nice cafe to have affordable and authentic Indian Food.Food: 5/5
AMAZING CURRY FOR THE PRICE This place strikes me more as a takeaway place however it's very nice to sit in as well. Came for dinner at around 8pm on a Saturday and there were plenty of tables available. I got the meal deal for 1, which includes 4 pakoras, some poppadoms, and a curry of your choice with either rice or naan. I chose the Chicken Rogan Josh and it was pretty good. The service was extremely fast and the food was brought out within minutes. The server was also friendly and asked how the meal was. Would come back here if I wanted a curry that's fast, affordable and good quality!
Have been getting takeaways for years from Curry Cafe. Always good. Great value also.
Food arrived like more than 1 hour later easy, we all had Kebab, as im a Chef and know a bit about food, the meat they are using for there Kebab is frozen and it s made with a cheap meat mixture like the nuggets but worst meat is tasteless, feel like rubber almost, not much veg in it and served in a naan bread, we couldn t even eat half of it, even one month later we still remember it as one of our worst meal ever, dont eat there, dont waste your money, this place need to shut down, a greedy owner is only trying to make money with cheap food. No love. Avoid absolutely.
When people say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, they’re referring to places like this. From the outside it’s cheap and shabby looking, but the food is outstanding. Why this we curry house isn’t packed with pre-theatre dinners I’ll never know. Thanks for a lovely meal and great service.
They took their time with the large mixed kebab but it tasted tho the donner was a wee bit stale. Asked for more variety in the accompanying salad and staff were quick to offer mixed peppers & spiced onions. The cafe could do with a spruce up....they do have a very small WC be careful as the steps leading down to them are steep....
It doesn't have a fancy frontage like others in the street it is, as it says in the name, a cafe. However, the food and service more than makes up for the plain surroundings. The staff could not have been more helpful. The food was exceptional. I'm only here for a couple of days and I think another visit is on the cards. If you're ever looking for food on Elm Row /Leith Walk don't pass this gem by, give it a try.
