It was a Wednesday evening, I was minding my own business when suddenly an ingenious idea popped into my head. I decided that it was time for Italy, and when thinking of Italy, i think of Cucina. Little did I know what fate had in store. I stepped out my house, locked the door to my 5 story mansion complete with 5 bathrooms, 10 bedrooms, a wine cellar, a cinema room and my huge outdoor pizza oven. I walked over to my trusty steed, called Shrek, who was currently taking part in an intense game of chess with the donkey, called Donkey. I climbed aboard Shrek and we galloped off into the night, to the land of dreams - Whalley. Once I arrived at the mystical lane of Whalley, I made my way to Cucina. I carefully parked my horse and whipped out the all new state of the art Nokia Brick (available at all major superstores for £4.99 including data allowance) and called the police to report a wild horse in the middle of the road. After minutes of questioning, they took the horse away and thanked me for my heroism. Then, suddenly I realised that my horse had disappeared. Full of rage, I stormed into Cucina and took a table ready to order. I ordered an extra large lasagne, and a large ale. However, nothing could prepare me for what came next. The clock struck 9:43 and my food had still not arrived, even though, I ordered a whole 3 minutes ago. Suddenly, my palms became sweaty, my spidey senses were tingling. My nose was on fire, how could this be! I heard footsteps approaching, was it my Hawaiian pizza? Alas, it was not. The kind lady was holding lasagne, as I sighed in disappointment, she set the lasagne down in front of me. I was repulsed. LASAGNE? I DIDN’T ORDER LASAGNE! How could they do this to me. I felt betrayed. As she began to walk away I called on the gods to give me power. I dropped to my knees in defeat. The now unkind lady stopped and turned around to look at me, with a mocking look on her face. She asked me if everything was alright, I replied no. I told her I ordered king prawn taglatelli. The lady had the audacity to question my commands, then suddenly the gates of hell opened up. Out came my mother, in her rage she swallowed the girl and returned. I sat back down ready to eat the repulsive food in front of me when I could smell something that burned my nostrils. The cheese was burning my skin I had to face the lasagne alone now. I called upon the gods once again and they gifted me with a massive floppy baguette. Then through my peripheral vision, I saw figures dresses in black, holding the magical carrot sword. I gasped. How could this be. With one powerful swoop, I slammed my baguette down and the earth cracked below me. Cucina no longer existed. I walked out in satisfaction and galloped home on my cow, Bella. Overall, the food was average, the cheese was mouldy, and the staff were unbelivably rude. Due to this, I would definitely recommend Cucina, and give it a 5 out of 5 stars. Thank you for the lovely experience. Yours sincerely, Sir Lancelot Ketamine

I have visited this place few months ago, and I am still talking about Cucina as the best Italian restaurant I have tried in uk. Cucina is the perfect combination between Italian food and the amazing English ingredients you find in Lancashire. Its food is simply delicious. The restaurant is quite small, very romantic for couples and a relaxing night out! Well done.

First impressions were good. Nice warm decor and good looking menus, and that's where the niceties ended. The menu was overly pretentious in trying to sound Italian, it prevented people from understanding what it was. The starter tasted good, but it was the size of 2 big croutons, and i could have made it at home in 5 minutes. I had lobster ravioli for main, but it was from a tin. I could tell because some of the paper from the tin was in my food! Very under-seasoned and underwhelming food, very small portion sizes, a very pretentious and deluded waiter, who made a good effort, but wouldn't allow you to have parmesan or salt when we requested it, even though the food was bland! I was considering complaining about the starter initially, but when the head waitress asked how things were with a demeanour like she was going to knock out anyone who criticised the food i decided it wasn't worth the effort. The birthday boy had a chef special beef, which was described like it was going to be brilliant, with chef cooking recommendations and such, but it came and it was just a big heap of rubbery chunks. The pasta itself was fresh, that's about the only good thing i can say about the food, but still bland and under-seasoned. We won't be going back here. I've left it the 1 star because it definitely doesn't deserve the 5 stars it's got on Google right now. I'm starting to think that these reviews were left by friends and family, because this restaurant was one of the worst I've dined in for a long time, especially for the price

We visited Whalley on December 01st 2016 for a wedding and we managed to book a table at Cucina by just calling in the afternoon for later that evening. We all love Italian cuisine but find it very hard to find authentic cooked Italian food. We arrived and were greeted by very friendly staff who explained hoe the restaurant worked and what dish was and even what wine would compliment the food. When each course arrived we were very impressed by the presentation and bowled over by the taste of the dishes and the whole evening was fanatstic and we spent a whole 3 hours for our wonderful meal. Our party of four were that impressed that we said that even though we all live a hour away, we would make the journey just for the cuisine. Top Marks!!!
