Called for lunch today. A warm welcome in a spotless establishment. Fish, chips and Irish curry, and fish and chips = £15-85. The fish was wonderful, chips excellent and the Irish curry delicious, good sized portion, a little deceptive in my photo due to the trays being very big. Highly recommended.
I've used this shop for a long time 30+ and always enjoyed the food. But on my last visit, the food was outstanding. The best we've had ever! I've noticed recently that on nights this shop is open - there's often long queues outside. One customer said the last time she called in - the queue went right around the corner! So it's not just me that's noticed just how good this place is.
Bit of a mixed bag. Fish was excellent, good size, crispy batter etc. But the chips were a bit meh. Next time i'm gonna have the jumbo fish, its massive, and pass on the chips. I'd happily try again. Oh and no scraps!! Loses a star for that Food: 4/5
One of the best places around for fish, chips, jumbo sausage and curry sauce. Highly recommend and they do get busy. Keep up the great work. Food: 5/5
Beautiful fish n chips from here. Always a good sign when there's a mile long queue worth every minute waiting for yum yum . Friendly staff to add too. Perfect
Excellent. Reasonably priced, food cooked while you wait and the menu is huge and diverse and hangs on the wall behind the staff. There is plenty of choice here. I've had scampi and chips a few times recently and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Recommended.
Chips are fine - lots of them. Fish - not so much. Large portions but not great. Batter is dark and hard.Food: 2/5
DISGUSTING. My wife and I drove the monthly 100 mile round trip to visit our favourite place, Mill Hey Fisheries just down the road from Cross Roads. Unfortunately it was closed so we decided to try Cross Roads after hearing some locals in the pub talk about it. We both had fish and chips, I had the king size fish. What a mistake. We ate them in the car. I had 5 layers of paper under my food and the grease off the fish got through and ruined my jeans. The chips were soggy and pale. Vile. Go down the road to Mill Hey for real fish and chips.
Love my fish and chips from here. Be prepared for a small wait during busy periods but it is totally worth it.Food: 5/5
