I rather like Cross Gates station.nLots of trains pass through but there also regular trains to and from Leeds on the Leeds to York route. It’s only a 6 minute journey to Leeds and less than half an hour to York.nThere are just 2 platforms but they are wide, clean and modern. The access up to the main road and Cross Gates itself is via a long upwards slope against a very striking red brick wall.nThe station is really handy with parking and next to a lovely shopping arcade and other local shops and pubs.nIf you are thinking about visiting Temple Newsam and don’t want to drive, head out of Leeds to Crossgates and you can then make the very pleasant walk up to the park via a residential area. It will take about 30 minutes.
This is a nice quiet station for the suburb of Cross Gates, clearly marked by a good ol' metro sign! There are red walls that haven't faded whatsoever and the platforms are properly sized, giving proper accessibility whether departing or boarding. A smooth walkway with a handrail makes it easy to exit and the boards are clear, displaying when any trains depart; it was no hassle catching a frequent Leeds connection. The shelter is comfortable for waiting in and as a whole, the station has cleanliness maintained when I used it.
Gets a decent number of trains each hour. Most trains just pass through. Has ticket machines and looks to have a ticket office. However there are often teenagers hanging around the station, with there being an instance where a bike was thrown on the track, so it's something to beware of
Simple train station... feels pretty rural considering its in Leeds.
Cannot complain about the Parking prices, as this is a local haunt for doing shopping and other bits, the Station is adjacent to the car park. Though I haven't used the train service since passing my test, the station is very handy to get in and out of Leeds.
