Very busy interchange station with multiple platforms. It's of an age, but with 200 years of rail, that's not surprising. Do get a lot of delays and cancellations, not to mention platform changes, but staff help, displays and announcements have got a lot better in helping with this over the years. Loos seem to be getting better in recent times as well. Still not perfect, but certainly less problems than in the past, and mitigated better.
A very nice place to go to overall and would come frequently.nnHas lots of platforms and is quite old so will probably need a renovation to the roof and tiles soon.nnQuite popular throughout peak times so have to get there really to get some space and seats.nnIncludes a free water station on one of the platforms, which is always a bonus.nnSome bike areas to lock your bike, you will have to find them and hope they are not used considering they are used often, there's no directions to them and they're not at an obvious spot!nnMany sets of stairs and lifts if needed. Plenty of staff around and friendly so can easily ask for assistance if needed.nnThere are some shops in the station so you can pick up a few things before starting your route!
Travel through crewe on a semi-regular basis and overall it's a decent station.nnStaff are friendly and helpful, the station is clean and spacious, and all facilities and platforms are well signposted, including a large car park, toilets, several shops and eateries, and the first class lounge.nnFirst class lounge was very quiet on my most recent visit 8:30 on a Monday morning. It can be accessed by pressing the intercom at the entrance end of the footbridge and showing your ticket to the camera.nnThere were lots of complimentary food and drink options available, although the coffee machine wasn't working at the time of my visit. The lounge is spacious with lots of comfortable seating, workstations with usb cables and power points, and has its own toilet aswell.nnOnly downside is that platform alterations happen on quite a regular basis sometimes requiring a change to the other side of the station, but these are announced in plenty of time before the train arrives.
This was a brilliant station for vising and changing trains on multiple occasions, spanning a colossal number of platforms for a town! Getting between these platforms is easy from the walkway above and plenty of signs help navigate, the platform sizes are suitable for all the long distance trains too. Waiting room was solid when having a long transfer time and staff were attentive at ticket gates, cleanliness was enforced too!
This station gets a lot of bad press for things that are out of the staffs control. Platform alterations and cancellations are not the staffs fault and is usually due to something genuine not them trying to annoy you. This place is brilliant for trainspotting and the staff don’t mind. People complain that they shout and tell you to “get behind the line” but only last year someone fell into the tracks.
