Large hall, suitable for functions, currently venue for the annual Durga Puja celebration in Glasgow. Separate dining area as well which makes it convenient. Nice clean toilets.
I love libraries, they are most often places of calm and solace, and are intended to be accessible to all. Unfortunately my experience of this library today was not that. When I arrived I noted the signs saying the disabled access lift is broken. Having entered the library I was able to sit for around 10 minutes before a librarian started having a very loud conversation with a member of the public. The librarian was in fact louder than the patron and the conversation was entirely unrelated to anything to do with accessing the library resources. The conversation continued for over 15 minutes before I decided to leave. I think it is really important for everyone to be able to use the library, including as a place to reduce isolation and connect with others. However, I think this is not best done in the main section of the library where it unavoidably impacts other library users. The staff seemed very friendly and the library is in a beautiful building though it could do with some significant updating and fixing the disabled access ASAP, however I really did not enjoy my experience here today.
I ran a two day workshop in the main hall, which is grand space Inc a stage and piano. Kitchen available but you have to bring all cups, spoons, cloths etc. Clean toilets, approachable staff, we all thought it was a good space.
The building is old and quite pretty from the outside but inside it is falling apart. For hiring balls for events or is very cheap and there is use of a reasonable kitchen but I wouldn't recommend for anything glamorous.
Nice old building, it has a bar which is good. It’s not great for watching shows from the ground floor if there’s someone tall in the row in front of you.
It's quite big for a crowd of about 150-170... the stage is large enough for a small function as well!
Great library on a beautiful building, friendly staff great selection of books, calm place to visit
Celebrated a week of festive season with Durga Pujo, the largest and perhaps the most important socio-cultural event of Bengal.
A delightfully atmospheric library with a broad range of facilities and superb staff. Well worth a visit.
Good seating for a crowd of 150-200, balcony seating available as well. Parking available too
