We stayed at the regency in the bridal suite on the night of our wedding in July and couldn’t be more pleased! We got married at the Regency and had the pleasure of the faultless service of Nick manager Andrea events and Tom catering throughout the entire process. They worked with us to create a perfect and bespoke package tailored just for us, they couldn’t have been more helpful answering my many questions throughout! Nothing was too much hassle for the team, our menu tasting was insanely delicious and a beautiful experience and the food on the day was to the same standard. The wedding suites are lovely and well priced and the staff make up for anything else. The bar and restaurant is modern and stunning, and the food and drinks match those standards. Whilst some of the rooms could do with some modernisation I believe this is happening for what you pay, and the location, the offering is more than fair. The grounds and garden are beautiful, perfect for privacy on your special day and pictures. It’s a hidden gem that’s easily accessible for those in the city/region. I had the best day of my life thanks to the Regency and their team, and would highly recommend any bride putting their special day in their hands. We will be back for our anniversary and when your leisure facilities have finished refurbishment. Thank you - Chloe & Matthew
Had trouble paying for my booking online but Nikki phoned me and booked me in and I paid on arrival. Room large and clean but decor tired. Bed rather lumpy. Could hear the occupant in the next room snoring and the creaking floorboards upstairs as well as them talking until late into the night. Didn't have a hairdryer in my room and no-one on Reception in the morning to assist. No-one in the restaurant to sign me in for breakfast so I just helped myself. Good breakfast though. Ok for a convenience stay of one night but I probably wouldn't book again unless I really had to.
I recently visited the Regency Hotel to use the lounge area for some work, and I was thoroughly impressed with the experience. While I didn't stay in the rooms, I can certainly vouch for the quality of the lounge and breakfast services. **Lounge and Working Environment:** The lounge area is a comfortable and inviting space, perfect for getting some work done. The WiFi is easy to join and boasts a good speed, making it ideal for working on the go. One minor drawback is the background music, which, although pleasant, can make certain business calls a bit challenging. A quiet room would be a valuable addition for those needing a quieter environment. **Breakfast Experience:** The breakfast at the Regency Hotel was delightful. All the food was very tasty, with high-quality ingredients evident in every bite. The highlight was the exceptional service provided by the waitress, who went out of her way to make my toast and promptly cleared my plates when I finished. The unlimited coffee included with breakfast was a handy perk, especially when working. **Parking and Additional Facilities:** Parking is convenient with a four-hour free allowance, which you can extend at the reception if you're using the hotel facilities. This feature adds to the overall convenience, especially for visitors like myself who are there for a short duration. **Overall Impression:** Overall, I was very impressed with the Regency Hotel. The combination of a comfortable working environment, excellent breakfast, and attentive service makes it a standout choice. I look forward to returning and hope to see the addition of a quiet room in the future. I highly recommend the Regency Hotel for anyone looking for a pleasant place to work or enjoy a quality breakfast.
Came here and booked a double size room on 14/09/24. Upon arrival the room was very outdated. When sleeping on the bed it was two single beds stuck together which meant a very uncomfortable stay at night. Bed kept splitting apart. This was not what was advertised. Asked for a refund and the general manager Nick Windsor stated a refund was not going to happen as issues weren’t raised at the time even though I said on email correspondence the room was poor. He is unprofessional and doesn’t have a clue on customer service or trying to make it up to a customer. Won’t be staying again. Only good thing was they kept my charger which I left in the room and I got this back and the receptionist was helpful on reception.
Location is very good and car parking is ample. The reason for the low rating is that I was as a solo traveller in a room that did not have heating radiator did not work, as I arrived late at night and just wanted to get to sleep, I did try and persevere but in the morning when mentioned to the Stafford reception, it was just detailed that it had been very cold and that the fact that the heating was not working was not a surprise. Some of the rooms appear to be located near stairwells which can get noisy, especially overnight. The Wi-Fi can be patchy in certain areas. If arriving late you need to let the staff know as the reception is not always manned, especially after midnight. The place appears to be popular with families, especially over a weekend- especially with the proximity towards Birmingham. This can make for corridors to be somewhat noisy. As detailed, there can be quite loud generators, especially if you are near the back of the hotel- even with the windows closed, you can still hear the whirring noise. The rooms are carpeted and the pressure in the showers appears to be quite good. However, the fact that the bathroom just has frosted glass and overlooked onto a car park was not so reassuring. To activate the heated towel rail, you need to be aware of the separate switches- if they had a folder detailing this, that would be helpful. And it really depends what you are looking for. If you are wanting luxury then you should be expected to pay for it. However, if your primary aim is just to have a break rather than going on a long trip, this might suffice as the family rooms may be easier to tolerate than the solo room, which appears to be an afterthought and possibly to maximise income.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming both in reception and in the bar/restaurant. Rooms are a bit tired but comfortable and the shower is hot and powerful so fine for an overnight stay. Evening meal was very good and the service was excellent.
Restaurant bar and main areas all modern and nice. Bars very good lots of draught options. Service no issues staff all attentive and helpful. Rooms dated like you expect Alex Polisi to come around the corner any minute giving out. However slept comfortably all night no noise or issues. They are going through renovation atm. There is a optional 10% service charge in the restaurant you need to be mindful of. Basic breakfast for 12.95. Coffee machine needs updating latte wasn't a latte. Drinkable though
Rooms are pretty awful, show their age and lack of care/attention. The bed itself was the worst part, I think it must have been an ancient mattress they’re trying to keep alive somehow - I’d recommend they lay it to rest. Food is good and service nice but honestly the room you pay for and stay in is what matters most. It’s really, really not good - avoid!
On arrival the hotel looks lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant areas look modern and clean. Sadly the rest of the hotel isn't as nice. The lift felt as if it was going to break down any second so we stopped using it. The decor in the corridors looks in bad shape and there was a funny smell. The first room we got given was huge, but it looked dated, the carpet was old a worn and the room stank of BO, like someone's sweaty gym bag. We asked for another room which they gave us. This time the room smelt cleaner but was still worn out and the bathroom had mismatched tiles where they had been replaced at some point. It was functional though. But, there was a noise coming from somewhere outside that sounded like something from a horror movie. It was a deep rumbling noise that caused the wardrobe doors to rattle. It happened every 20 seconds or so and not a chance could I sleep with that noise. I spoke to reception again who apologised and said it was the boiler. They gave us another room on the other side of the hotel where the noise could barely be heard. Still the room looked dated and the bathroom was very rough looking again. The next morning we opted for a breakfast. It looked amazing, but tasted rubbish. The sausages were like rubber and full of grissel, The hash browns were soggy and eggs were dry n rubbery. We would of loved to of used the leisure facilities as they looked great online, but it's been closed for refurbishment since last November. At £275 for 2 nights, £10 per night to park and £12.95 per person for breakfast, I would definitely not recommend the hotel. It needs a good £100k of work doing to it to repair and modernise. It would be an amazing hotel then with the size and layout. Shame really. Rooms: Old and dated
Dreary. We had to pay an extra £10 to park car in hotel car park apparently unless you book directly you have to pay. The hotel is shabby- decor dreadful. Heaven knows who chose the colours and wallpaper. Bedroom was average. Again no imagination or love gone into decor or furnishings. Double bed not king which is usual nowadays. It was clean though. Receptionist not really interested. Lift not working and quite a lot of dreary stairs and corridors to reach room. Won’t be going back. Rooms: Very budget, brown decor, clean.
