We got a table reservation same day and walked into a very friendly and festive environment. There was an amazing band and all enjoyed the atmosphere. We had friendly service and got a table visit from the head chef that went above and beyond and made my daughter a fresh strawberry daiquiri which was a non menu item. The food was great and the steaks were perfectly cooked. We very much enjoyed our dinner and highly recommend this as a stop for people to enjoy.
Sometimes someone gets a bad meal, and last Sunday that was the 6 of us. We were off to a bad start as having rung on Saturday to book and checked the Sunday menu we were told it was Roasts, and a few other dishes including fish and chips. However when we arrived it was just roasts or fish and chips. We were seated quickly and offered drinks, but then just got missed, with others coming and orders taken before us. One we got ordered the food was prompt to arrive. We had 5 roasts and 1 fish and chips. The actual components of the roasts were fine, however the beef was tough and flavourless. Considering it was an £18 meal that is not good enough. The fish and chips were terrible. The whole lots was covered in salt straight from the kitchen and the fish was tough and overcooked. We complained about the fish and the need and were offered a measly 10% off one of the beefs and the fish. Not impressed, although judging by the number of people packed in this review will not make any difference.
Really nice pub. Staff are very friendly, and the food was on point! Beef burger was a decent size, Southern fried chicken was a very healthy sized portion and the kids fish goujons and cheesy pasta went down a treat! Also a small play area for the kids which is great. Would visit again Dietary restrictions: Staff were great at helping with dietary requirements
Hello We came for a light lunch while on holiday. It was just by chance that we came in. I'm so glad that we did. We had a simple soup, leek and potato. Simple in name, but not simple in eating. It was stunning in flavour. The simplicity of ingredients were celebrated so that you were engulfed with a warm glorious hug. The chef knows his ingredients and how to showcase them to perfection. The huge welcoming fire in the fireplace was rivaled by the lovely hospitality and warmth of the staff. When coming to Cornwall this will be a definite place to come to. Thank you debbie Vegetarian options: Good choice Parking: Needed more
Upon our holiday in Cornwall we drove past this pub on the way to Plymouth. We decided to pop in tonight and so glad we did, amazing atmosphere, amazing food and such friendly staff. The gentleman who served us knew my wife was really cold so popped us right next to the fire which was amazing. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place! We got served by "Batman" at least that's what it says on the receipt and the car outside lol ... dog friendly ... spacious and very homely and currently VERY festive! Parking: Lots of parking - bridge to get over to the main car park quite narrow, be careful. But we got our Nissan Juke across.
Had a meal with two friends and it was delightful. Probably the best pub food I've ever had. Staff were very upbeat despite it being a busy Saturday night. Unfortunately we were unable to have our first choice on the menu. The chef brought our meals personally and asked us to accept his apologies for not being able to supply our first choice.
Great welcome from staff, friendly welcoming etc. Seated in locals side , 4 plus our dog, yes it's dog friendly too, all very nice. 3 pork Sunday dinners and a chicken and chips , all very good, a nice guest IPA . All very good and ended a great weekend on a hi note.Food: 5/5
My friends and I had a Sunday roast, presentation was good, and portion size as well, the vegan gravy was rather bland and the food not very hot. Overall a nice place and staff who are very friendly and obliging.Food: 4/5
Just had lunch at The Copley. We had the steak and stilton baguettes, kids pasta and cheesy garlic bread. The food was delicious, bread lovely and soft, steak cooked to perfection and tasted divine. Service from the gentleman behind the bar and the waitress was spot-on!Service: 5/5
Last minute booking of a Sunday lunch and certainly did not dissappoint!! The pub is so pretty and quaint. We were greeted by staff when we entered and shown our table tucked away up the corner. We ordered three roast lunches and they were beautiful. Meat was lovely and plentiful, really nice variety of vegetables and didn't take long to arrive. Followed it up by a chocolate brownie and ice cream which was to die for!! The young waiters were absolutely lovely, even apologising for the wait in taking our dessert choice, but we were happy just relaxing anyway, we could see he was veey busy. I would definitely come back! Thank you!!
