A very poor letting agency. The property we rented was actually owned by the owner of this letting agent and he attempted to disguise this fact. Several of our requests for repairs were not answered or carried out. We were charged fees to renew our lease. The garden had rubble, rubbish, branches, broken glass, car parts, tyres and other assorted rubbish in it when we moved in. We ended up spending a considerable amount of time cleaning this up. We also spent a lot of money making the garden nice. The house had dated wallpaper in the living room and carpets that already looked very old and worn. The front door was very old and made of wood. It warped during the winter and we could not open and close it properly. In order to save money the landlord and agent, Mr Doherty, arranged for his handyman to shave some wood off the bottom and side of the door. This left gaps in the door which allowed heat to escape from the house and slugs to invade it. There wood in the interior was rotten in some places and it had old wooden frames for single glazed windows. When my son with Autism and PICA picked away at some of the exposed paint his health was potentially effected due to their being lead in the paint. The landlord/letting agent arranged for double glazing windows to be installed but he did not replace them following a safe procedure as he had promised to. This put our health at risk and was also a serious breach of trust.
