I eat at the Compasses once a month at my regular book club meeting. It's a cosy place with an open fire and the food is fine. It's not the best I've eaten and it's certainly not gourmet but the price is reasonable and I like it. As a group we tried other pubs but have ended up back at The Compasses. No where was quite right for us.

Standard pub showing sports when there's match's on. Decent Ales and beers. The large fireplace is lovely and throws out the heat. Food was delicious and very well priced. Overall a very good choice for lunch on any day of the week.

I like the pub. Well kept beer and an interesting location. Summer evenings in the Grove out the back are great. I can't comment about the food. Parking nearby restricted.

Looks nice inside and out. Good location for park. Tasty pub grub. Old school locals aren't friendly or inclusive though. Were made to feel like we were cramping their style. Won't be going back.

Was very quiet when we got there. The bartender was friendly and funny. We did our order of food and drink at the bar and we both went for the dirty burger with chilli con carne. Food was quick but when it got to us it was already getting cold so after two bites it was just cold. It still tasted alright but would have been better with some heat to it.
