Coia's Cafe

About

History

Story

The Coia family opened their first café in Dennistoun in 1928, and ever since then Coia’s Café has been a favourite meeting place for local people, both young and old.

Coia’s Café today provides a wide range of meals and snacks. A full breakfast is available before noon and after, if that is what you really fancy. The ever popular fish and chips and various traditional Italian dishes are all in our menu – Pastas, steaks, langostines and a fine selection of pizzas as well as many new dishes to tantalise the taste buds.

We still pride ourselves in four basics:- friendly attitude, politeness, cleanliness and high quality food.

"he very first Coia’s Café, originally on the corner of Duke Street, was owned by Carmine and Amalia Coia. Nicky and Ena Coia took over in the 1950’s. In that time they took the business to the next level by introducing confectionery and a larger menu. During the 1980’s the ownership transferred to the current owners – Alfredo and Antonia Coia, the third generation of the family to run the business. In 2006, the well known local landmark entered a new era by expanding into the newly built premises next door and by extensively refurbishing the existing café. This now includes the new takeaway food section and excellent delicatessen. Coia’s Delicatessen is always worth a visit, offering a full off-licence with a large choice of imported wines"

Amazing authentic Scottish chip shop! Can’t rate this place enough food is world class not just the fish suppers! However it is a particular favourite of mine, my sons would rate the desserts and ice cream more! Five stars from a regular customer perspective. Tastes delicious you should try it for yourself!
The place is really nice and the atmosphere is really cozy and enjoyable. The staff is helpfull and attentive. The breakfast I had was really tasty, cheap and I definetly recommend it to anyone who's searching for a place to eat and wants to find a suitable solution!
Food was incredible. I had the steak pie - portions are huge! All dishes come with chip shop chips. Service was great and atmosphere lovely. Will definitely be back!
Left an amazing review a few days ago because I've been ordering from this place every night. Tonight however I am very disappointed. I just paid £17.50 for a chicken curry and I've literally counted 10 tiny pieces of chicken in it, served in a huge tray that's half empty. This is terrible value for money, I expected something special at that price, tbh for what I got, I wouldn't even of paid a tenner. Quite disappointing, from a place I've been praising up for a fortnight. Pic included, shocking!
Very popular and busy cafe in the east of Glasgow. Nice atmosphere and good service. There was a queue to get in, so I suggest you book a table to avoid being turned away.
My favourite place of all time. The food standard is very high. No restaurant can compare. I 100% recommend this place. Always better to book a seat because they are always busy.
Food delicious, staff very friendly. Nothing to fault. Will definitely be back Food: 5/5
Great food, well presented and very tasty, beef stroganoff was delicious, the waiter was excellent, knowledgeable about the menu, and local amenities which we needed to use. Lovely interior and comfortable seating. It was Saturday lunchtime and was very busy and a football day, so quite noisy as you would expect, but I would like to experience it when not so busy and I was not as rushed. Lovely touch with the birthday celebrations for one of the diners, and my only negative was the birthday song went on for too long. Will definitely return to this establishment, maybe on a Monday or Tuesday night. Big shout to the young English waiter with the beard, forgot his name but helped make it an enjoyable experience.
Booked a table for my sister's birthday. Staff are nice and food was swift and hot. I highly recommend the olives and bread. I was happy the food came out at the same time and portion sizes were good. Two of the party ordered battered haggis and chips and steak pie and mash. The haggis was unfortunately very dry! It needs a side or whisky inspired gravy as it was hard to eat. Also the mash was a very small portion and had no side either. I won't lie, it looked a bit pitiful. Apart from that we all enjoyed our meals and the staff were very accommodating.
Enjoyed an excellent lunch. Food was very tasty and plentiful, service was exceptional Kid-friendliness: Varied child menu. Saw a few of the meals and they looked lovely Parking: Can be difficult to find a parking space but plenty of side streets
