Great place to eat, we loved the ambience. It is different from the rest of the place and quite calm. There is a great selection of items to purchase in the cafe for pantry. The Jamaican breakfast was quite incredible, for some it is an acquired taste, the salty fish, pancake and onions take you to another land whilst sitting in london. The mushroom breakfast dish that we tried was very good as well, it had bread served with mushrooms, cheese and poached eggs. The size of both dishes was good for a healthy breakfast. We had a good serving of coffee and hot chocolate, the mugs were big and filled appropriately. Service is good and friendly and worth a few visits. Parking: Parking is difficult to find and you need to plan this in advance. Some off street parking is possible in nearby streets. Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu
Most of the bad reviews talk about the service but we found this okay on the day we went. Food was great in portion size something you don't get in many places these days I feel when eating out!, was tasty and other orders also looked really good and the cakes after the meal delicious. Chill place to have a lunch break. We enjoyed!
What a gem. On second visit got Goat curry which is unbelievably good - hot and coconutty served with rice n peas. Located inside an atmospheric old Victorian shop premises with original windows and dramatic high ceiling. First visit I had a red lentil, squash and coriander soup which was so tasty with chunky bread. Husband’s full English was proper good - proper bacon and a proper butcher’s sausage. The creamed scrambled egg was tasty too. They specialise in coffee - cappuccino was very smooth. Choc and pistachio cake was yum. Cheery genuine staff. Vegetarian options: Try the red lentil and squash and coriander soup. Delish.
Went in last weekend for a brunch with a friend, we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Served and looked after by an extremely polite and helpful young man, coffee was amazing and food was just as good will be coming back soon. Highly recommended for anyoneFood: 5/5
Place is very nice but the service was the worst I’ve ever seen. No harmed feelings but it was just plain terrible. Went for a late lunch with a friend. Ordered a coffee and wine and a couple of sandwiches, and the guy had to come to ask twice what drinks we had ordered. A woman that seemed more in charge came very polite and apologetically asking a third time several minutes later what drinks we had ordered, which was already strange. ‘He forgot, sorry’. We had our drinks and about forty minutes later I went to ask about our sandwiches. She had no idea we’d ordered food, which by the way wasn’t even available anymore. Another time ‘he forgot, sorry’. I was shocked. Waiter forgot twice about our drinks, plus completely forgot our food order !!! Girl offered to cancel our order, said again he had forgotten but she didn’t seem surprised that he forgot one order in a place with four occupied tables. Guy didn’t even look at us when he came to say drinks were in the house. No words. I am sorry, they weren’t rude or anything like that, which would have been much worse, but the service was appalling. Something had to be said. We didn’t react angrily because it was just so shocking we were lost for words, and they didn’t have an attitude, but it annoyed me that neither of them seemed too surprised or bothered about this, just like ‘so he forgot, big deal’. We just had to leave with no lunch.
Nice light lunch with a friend. We've been given menus as soon as we sat, orders were taken timely and served in reasonable time. I had a vegetarian baguette which was pretty tasty, my friend took the salt beef sandwich which he said was good. Prices are not low, the area is gentrified and I didn't expect any different. Overall a nice experience.
My favourite place in London for a Full English Breakfast - simply outstanding. Every item in the dish is consistently cooked to perfection, and the ingredients are great quality with generous portions and no grease. They also do great fresh fruit juices / smoothies and fabulous cakes. Friendly staff and excellent music playlist in the background - mellow and slightly groovy/upbeat. Really nice place to relax over a delicious meal.
Compared to London prices, you can still find reasonably priced decent coffee with good taste. I tried flat white and halloumi cheese sandwich. Flat white was roasted to my taste, some might say it is not strong which I don’t mind. Sandwich was tasty and the sourdough bread was nice. Staff were friendly. Bathroom needed a bit of tending and cleaning.
I get an oat hot Chocolate from this place. The drink is always banging. Honestly really nice I've never eaten in there and I would like to Try it thoFood: 5/5
Had the ackee and salt fish Jamaican breakfast and it was not good at all, sadly it did not look like nor taste like ackee and salt fish. Waitress was polite, but did not really do anything to address this apart from Feedback to the chef and no follow up. Orange and ginger tea was amazing!
