One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had. Great tasting food across all three courses.Food: 5/5
Some great food and reasonably priced for the quality you are getting! Beware if you are sat at the kitchen counter you will end up as smokey as the food . If I went again I would probably opt for their dining room for a bit more atmosphere as we were the only ones on the kitchen counter.Food: 4/5
What a lovely restaurant. The Coal Rooms is full of atmosphere and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. I could not fault the service received at our table, especially Ben. He is certainly a wonderful asset to this lovely place. I loved walking in and seeing the chefs working and they had and took the time to welcome us, whilst obviously busy working. I loved so many choices and the fact you could share courses so you had the chance to try so many different tastes and new adventures with food. I recommend this restaurant highly. The food was amazing, I love fine dining and exploring and experiencing new restaurants. This place is up there with the best. We'll done chefs!!!!!!!with these guys working there definitely a place to revisit I will definitely be back.
Great location underneath Peckham Rye station. It has a minimalist but warm and inviting atmosphere. We were in the back room which was softly lit. We came here for dinner and the food was very good although the smoky charred flavour didn’t come through as strongly on the pork and steak as you might expect. The desserts are a delight, the open sandwich with the rhubarb and meringue shards was delicious. The restroom is in keeping with the railway station style but in a much more modern way. The service was excellent, the staff were very attentive and friendly.
PECKHAM RYE STATION... opened on 1 December 1865 for LC & DR trains and on 13 August 1866 for LB & SCR trains. It was designed by Charles Henry Driver 1832–1900, the architect of Abbey Mills and Crossness pumping stations, who also designed the grade II listed Denmark Hill and Battersea Park stations between here and London Victoria. The Coal Rooms were the old Ticket Office within the station, now refurbished with chic decor. The Water Closets... 'toilets' have the original Victorian fittings! The staff are friendly and welcoming. Delicious variety of pastries Great place to relax and enjoy the footfall of passing passengers going about their everyday lives. Dog-friendly Definitely will return & thoroughly recommend this establishment.
Up there with the best. The Sunday roast was amazing. I requested a portion of carrots with my roast lamb and the staff kindly accommodated my request. Comparisons will naturally be made with Blacklock, however both are elite Sunday roasts so who’s really comparing?! The brioche to start was lovely and came with chicken fat and a miso butter. Very tasty indeed and not something I would typically go for, but as the only starter with the Sunday lunch I thought it would be good to give it a go. I wasn’t disappointed. The tart dessert for dessert was very refreshing and is easily one of the best desserts I have had. Very light and the fruit nicely cleansed my palette. Incredible service, up there with the most personable service I’ve received and that was despite there being social distancing measures in place. Staff here are a great asset and add to the experience. Looking forward to returning for the roast dinner and also to sample their offerings during the week especially the incredible looking tasting menu!
Outstanding tasting menu with drinks pairing. The service is relaxed and friendly, in fact it's probably some of the best service I've received. Everything jumps off the plate with flavours both bold and subtle. The pairings were all excellent and at no point were the courses rushed. The counter seat we had gave us good insight into a relaxed and professional kitchen. Will definitely go again.
Went here back in December and was so pleased we decided to do so. We got a table around the ‘kitchen counter’ which I would highly recommend. We started with a great glass of English sparkling wine before joining the suggested wine menu - great pairing through the meal. The food was delicious and great experience having it cooked in front of you. The main course which really blew me away, sound simple as it was mushrooms, but I am sure creating it was fare from - still dreaming about it. Oh and the popcorn butter!!! On point. Would highly recommend going here.
We had an incredible meal at Coal Rooms for my husband’s birthday. The dining room is beautiful and every dish was really excellent. We had the set menu and enjoyed the whole experience. An absolute gem!
Seriously good dining experience. The dining room seats about 32 people, and is small, intimate, but I wouldn't say crowded and has plenty of natural light. Service was great, very pleasant and prompt. The roast is absolutely fantastic, and the smokey aroma locked into the meat is amazing. It's expensive £30 for a roast but the wine list is good, starters are good, and the portion size was good. One of the best dining spots in Peckham, and one of London's best roasts.
