Story

The Camberwell Arms is a neighbourhood restaurant offering the best quality produce at affordable prices.

The food at The Camberwell Arms is rooted in high quality produce and simple cookery. Using the best seasonally available fruit and vegetables, dry aged native-breed meat and sustainably caught fish, and our charcoal grill, the menu is a mixture of classic and delicious dishes that fundamentally we want to eat. We make virtually everything we sell in house including all our own butchery.

Sharing plates are a big part of what we do, from our own suet pastry crusted pies to herb fed rotisserie chickens and large steaks.

The beef and bone marrow pie, mussels, corn, and pork fat on toast were excellent - albeit a tad too salty. Had a house ginger beer as well, which was sadly quite weak in flavour; the wine was great though!Food: 4/5
We have been several times and the food is always so good we decided to have our wedding reception in the upstairs private dining space - we could not have had a more perfect meal! Every single bite was cooked and seasoned to perfection. They use exceptional ingredients. The menu is both modern and traditional so it’s a good place for families - our friends in their 30s loved it just as much as some of our older guests. No notes!
The perfect Sunday lunch. Lamb shoulder was full of flavour, the beer onions/scotch bonnet pork on toast were a particular highlight within the extremely high standard. Tall ceilings and old school building with a modern twist makes a chilled but classy vibe. Doesn’t get much better!Food: 5/5
We had our wedding dinner / party at Camberwell Arms and it was an incredible experience from start to finish, I couldn't recommend it enough! Josefin and the events team were extremely professional, communicative, and accommodating over the course of our planning. On the day, everyone was raving about the food we went for the lamb!, the service, and the atmosphere! We danced the whole night and had an amazing time. Major thank you to the Camberwell Arms team for making our big day so special!
Love the place, service is friendly and fun thanks to our waitress Bella , the drink selection, especially wines is great and the Sunday roast is amazing! Try the Onion and Gruyère toast, asparagus and the Hebridean lamb!Food: 5/5
Had been wanting to visit the Camberwell arms for some time now. The venue had a really fantastic atmosphere on arrival. The venue staff were very lovely and friendly and helped us with wine recommendations whilst we waited for our table. Loved the interior, and the wines were delicious. The food was all very tasty. We went for a Sunday roast. We opted for the pork. It was a shame that the only beef option was a pie, and both lamb options were with a pine nut sauce, which we couldn’t have due to allergies. One thing to note is that the mains only come with a side of roast and one other veggie. It would have been great to have had more green vegetables options. However both the starters and desserts were incredible, full of flavour and very moreish. A great venue for a big group of people if you want a laid back Sunday afternoon. Will definitely be revisiting soon!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Camberwell Arms in South East London, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. The staff went above and beyond with their warmth and hospitality, providing excellent service throughout my visit. The food was simply outstanding, and to top it off, they even treated me to a complimentary meal. The Camberwell Arms is undoubtedly a class act, and I can't wait to return. A huge thank you to the team for making our experience truly memorable. Lamb ribs were off the chain.
Really lovely visit to the Camberwell arms! Arrived at 4:00pm to a few things already sold out on the menu so offered a glass of fizz as an apology ! Throughly enjoyed the recommendation of the Hebridean lamb to share! Great atmosphere, hospitality and food ! We will be backFood: 5/5
Service: The staff were friendly, approachable and were helpful when it came to answering questions about the dishes. Main: We ordered the lamb sharer for two. The meat itself was tasty, and the flavour profile was lovely. We were told that it was lamb leg, however it was very fatty and I found it hard to believe it was leg. The portion of lamb was small, definitely not enough for two, so when factoring in the fat there was even less meat. The lamb was sat atop leeks and peas, which were nice, but they were swimming in a very thin watery stock. Sides: The beans with flaked nuts were delicious but overpriced at ~£11. Similarly the heritage tomato dish was overpriced for the size of the portion. I would have been happier paying ~£9 for each dish. Again flavours great, but portions underwhelming. Wine: Excellent selection! Value for money: Poor. £122 for a few small cuts of tasty yet fatty lamb, some beans and tomatoes and a couple of glasses of wine. Left unsatisfied and not full. I personally wouldn’t revisit as there are so many other pubs like the Canton Arms offering similar quality food at a similar price point - yet the offerings are larger.
Good atmosphere and great food with friendly service. Their menu changes daily so be prepared you might not be able to get the same dishes you have enjoyed. Recommend to book in advance to avoid being turned away.Food: 4/5
