I am going to be generous here. The food is not good. Don't bother with the wine. But this is a piece of nostalgia from the 1970s. I remembered restaurants like this when I grew up in England. Everything is more 1970s than Marc Bolan. Decor , food, presentation. Cutlery. Layout. In a way superb. I wasn't expecting good food.
I've been going here since I was 5 years old ...love because it's where you can get home cooked traditional meals without having to cook them yourself....but the new owners need to step up ...whilst my order was good in the space of time I was in there 3 table loads of complaints about the food...not once did you come out as new owners to face the issues...don't change what don't need changing...if it ain't broke don't try and fix it they say...so don't...oh and learn to cook cus going from the complaints I overheard you can't.
Traditional meals, friendly atmosphere, many gluten free options. Spacious amount of seating. Wear a jumper in the winter months, it isn't hot which I like!.
Had one of best breakfasts I've ever had at this place. Highly recommended, very nicely presented and great, friendly staff.
This place has been here as long as I can remember, anywhere that can keep running for so long is testament to great service and food. Earliest memories of Cleverdons was finding it very funny to eat a pasty on a plate with a knife and fork. Well they still do this! A very old building with lots of character and lovely staff.
