The only shop I go to is the HMV. Beware of beggars asking for money. One skinny young woman asked me for 90p, which seems strange, why not a pound. Needless to say, I felt sorry for her, that she looked as if she needed a good meal.
I am Middlesbrough born and bred and it worries me how many retailers are closing, in the centre and externally.nParking is highly limited due to the finding of asbestos which has closed Boots the Chemist and I imagine more will follow.nIt is not what it used to be and I have to have a reason to stop by the Cleveland Centre now.nI park there and access it only because I work locally and have a parking pass or I really wouldn't bother due to personal safety reasons.nnI would love to see real investment and a thriving centre again but I cannot imagine it !nReally saddens me, children riding through on cycles and swearing, laughing at security, I am ashamed to be a Boro girl at times.
Boarded up stores. Most of the major stores have closed down. The Mall areas have so few people around. I am surprised the extended costa even survives, especially at their prices.nPoor signage to Albert Rd exit. The car park charges are reasonable for less than 2 hours, and again poorly signposted & the car park is like a building site. Overall the cleveland centre is not welcoming or inviting & seems to have lost it's soul. I fear for the inhabitants, retailers & the workers of Middlesbrough
I have to say the setup for Santa Claus could be better. I know it's free, but the sleigh looks a bit tired now. On the plus side, the queue lady, the elf and Santa were great. Even the Photographer was great, making my kids laugh while we waited. Thanks for the unexpected goody bag too, kids loved it.
Quite a few empty shops, could be used for experiences like arcades, photography studios, galleries, competitions etc. I go frequently, but I hope they move to more modern desires of their guests.
