At last a good reliable and caring NHS dentist. Really helped me with problems caused by other dentists. Always explains options and treatments clearly, checks in and involves me in decisions about my care. Support staff are also excellent. Everyone who recommended them to me when I couldn't find a dentist was right!
Best dental practice ever! I have been seeing Iain Swan for years now, and even after leaving Edinburgh I still travel in from the Borders to see him. I had so many bad experiences previously that it had left me so scared about dental treatment. After my first appointment with Dr Swan I literally have never been remotely anxious about it. He’s so kind & gentle and is just absolutely brilliant at what he does. My husband goes to this practice also and sees Drew Michie and we argue over who has the best dentist . If you have any anxieties I would highly recommend this practice. The receptionist are also super lovely, it’s never a bad experience! Thanks Citrus!
Dr. Iain Swan has a very comforting presence. His confidence was reassuring. When he assessed the pain I was feeling in my lower molar, he gave me two options. Either a root canal or an extraction. He told me that, without hesitation, were it his tooth, he would extract it as he really didn't feel the root canal would be of any real benefit. I accepted his diagnosis and, only two days later I was back in the chair to have the tooth out. After cleaning my teeth and giving me two injections, it took him only two, maybe three minutes to painlessly extract the tooth. Six hours later, after the injection wore off, I can honestly say that there was no pain, only some discomfort. So, I would highly recommend Dr. Iain Swan.
I had a bad experience with this practice. Dentist Fotis Bousis was treating me for root canal, and he said it is a very easy and forward but he could not do it because he did not have the microscopic device, so ended up referring me to Edinburgh dental institute which took 6 months to finish the treatment. When I went to Edinburgh dental institute, they told me that he treated the wrong tooth, it was supposed to be the one next to it. When I filed a complaint, the manager said it is hard to know which tooth is from the X-ray. I cancelled my appointment with them and what they did , they removed me and my daughter from the practice instead of apologising for their mistake or making it up to me. So, I recommend do not waste your time at this practice, they are unprofessional and incompetent.
Really bad practice run by really bad people who does not care about the well being of their patients. They spent money on expensive device to clean teeth but they do not spent it on a microscope to help with a root canal. They had to refer me to the hospital which took 7 months to finish, and when I went to the hospital the dentist said that it was the wrong tooth. When I needed a crown, I asked to be referred to a private dentist since they made a mistake with the tooth but they insisted that my dentist will make the crown and I said no and I cancelled the appointment but instead of referring me to a private dentist, the practice removed me from the patients list because that is what I wanted and they removed my kid as well.
This has to be the best dental practice in Edinburgh , the dentists and supporting dental team are fantastic - completely patient focused , professional and genuinely care. They take time to explain any treatment that is required and why it is required. They offer both NHS and Private treatment . I am personally seen by Dr Maria Ertz and have been a patient for 10 years and cannot say enough good things about her and I know from others who are also patients of Citrus feel the same way . My most recent experience was to get root canal , first time I have ever needed one and was a bit nervous -any nerves quickly disappeared ! I have never been so relaxed during a procedure and Dr Maria is definitely Queen of Root Canal treatments ! Its a shame you can only award 5 Stars as they are 6 big gold stars plus Thank you everyone at Citrus !!
I’ve struggled to find a dentist since moving to Scotland, and during Covid could only get basic examinations and dental hygiene advice. A friend recommended Citrus and Maria Ertz is just an outstanding dentist, friendly, knowledgeable, reassuring, she took time to explain and clarify things, great service, lovely clean practice, this was everything a visit to the dentist should be, I cannot praise Maria or her colleagues enough!
Despite an extraction for emergency gum pain, i am still in pain and was injured during the scaling and polishing, i was under anesthetized they had to check and administer anaesthetic twice, i was gripping tightly to my arm during the procedure and i couldn't bury my head into that chair any deeper, i remarked i felt beaten up afterward. my gum and under my tongue was cut, the experience felt slightly rushed and chaotic with a colleague rushing in and out of the room for various reasons, i didn't know if i was being spoken at or if they were chatting to each other, but perhaps this is the NHS dental treatment these days, i have an appointment at another dentist to check me over to see if i need anti-biotics now. you put your trust in these people and they are highly trained, but i wont be back there
Got a short notice appointment due to a cancellation. Dr Ertz was patient, professional, warm, and concise.
Maria Ertz at Citrus is the best NHS dentist I've ever had and is very diligent, knowledgeable, professional and kind. She's a rare gem and I feel lucky to have found Citrus Dental. Support staff are also lovely.
