horrible school if attendance is too low they don't let you go home when your ill, cant go toilet if u don't have a toilet pass, and food portions are tiny. if i could go back to year 6 i wouldn't choose to come here.
Came here for high school and sixth form and I'm glad I left when I did. The sixth form is horrendous except for Mrs Lawlor she was the most helpful, kindest person and got me and many others through our a-levels and applications for uni and jobs. Loved having our own space in the sixth form common room, having our own kitchen area, etc.. but still having seating plans in some classes, being yelled at for talking with friends during our free periods, and having supervised toilet breaks as a year 13 due to year 12s vaping in the bathrooms felt slightly humiliating as we were supposed to be treat like adults. I can't even begin to explain some of the frankly inappropriate things said to some students by the head of sixth form. Please, go literally anywhere else for post-16.
It’s an ok school. Some of the teachers are really nice. The point system doesn’t mean anything though. You do everything right all year and get one point a week, then the kids who do nothing right most of the time underline their title and get seven positive points. It’s really demotivating. Also, the roof is falling apart and half the school is out of use. It makes getting to lesson a massive pain. Nail polish isn’t allowed, which in my opinion makes absolutely no sense. The only people who notice the nail polish are the really pedantic teachers. They claim it’s a distraction when they’re the ones making it the distraction. Purple nails aren’t going to stop me from doing my work. People argue over uniform with the teachers all the time. Stricter policy means more arguments which means more C3s. The more C3s, the more we have to sit in assembly and get scolded about the number of detentions. The uniform policy is only getting stricter next year. No ankle socks, you have to wear tights with a skirt and they have to be 70denial or more I think that just means they have to be thick/dark, no more rings and no trainers are the most notable ones I can think of. Ankle socks are cheaper and better for warmer weather. Tights, especially thick ones, are way more expensive than socks. I think the cheapest tights I can find are £2. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but when you can get 7 pairs of ankle socks for £3.50, the comparison is a bit more noticeable. Tights are also incredibly itchy, so people with sensory issues or who just don’t like the feeling of tights will be more irritable. No rings allowed I think is pretty annoying. We were only allowed one ring to begin with, but now we aren’t allowed them at all. The school goes on and on about how we’re individuals with our own personalities then makes us all look exactly the same. If you show a gram of individuality, you get put in referral. Normal school shoes are so uncomfortable and don’t get me started on how ugly they are. Most girls school shoes have buckles, which aren’t allowed, or are just plain awful. I saw a girl walk around barefoot outside because her shoes were so flimsy she would prefer to do that. I don’t think letting us wear air forces will affect our learning. If anything, it’ll probably make us pay more attention because we’ll be less focused on how uncomfortable our shoes are. Makeup has to be ‘discreet’ with no false lashes or fake tan. I was wearing purple eyeshadow, mascara and pink lipgloss and was asked to take it off. The lady at the hub said I didn’t need to thank you Mrs Dougdale. You’re the best but I still think that’s a bit far. How can you go on about care and respect when you don’t respect or care about your students enough to let them be comfortable? When you don’t respect them enough to reward constant good behaviour instead of trying to train bad behaving or less intelligent students like dogs by rewarding them when they do something right. I’ve not got that many positive points compared to some of my friends in bottom sets even though I’m doing everything asked of me.nnrespect to most of the ginger teachers - specifically ginger substitutes, IT teachers, and English teachers - though. For some reason they’re usually the best ones.
Lewis P gave me a nice biccy xx Love
Pretty good school , SEN team are amazing but the substitute teachers maybe could be better
