Church Cottage is luxury 3 bedroom holiday cottage nestled in the beautiful Somerset hamlet of Ashwick. Surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque scenery you will immediately feel relaxed in this serene country idyll. The interior is a mix of vintage and modern furnishings giving the cottage a contemporary feel. Two open fires in the TV room and Snug add to the cosiness of this quaint Somerset Holiday Cottage. The well equipped, large country kitchen has all of mod cons you’d expect from a luxury holiday rental. Sitting in it’s own mature gardens overlooking a 5 acre paddock you really feel enveloped in the peaceful location, the ultimate escape and sanctuary in the heart of the Somerset countryside. This self-catering cottage gives a wonderful sense of calm, privacy and relaxation within a warm, amenity-filled holiday home together with space and facilities for all your family and friends to enjoy.
Sitting in its mature cottage gardens, beds filled with every colour and flower you can imagine, you will immediately feel embraced by its privacy. Sounds of the local wildlife and abundant range of bird life will instantly uplift your spirits.
You enter Church Cottage from its glazed porch, from the hallway you have the stairs in front of you. To the left there's a snug that's a really comfortable room with its own working fireplace, for you to read or to just sit back, relax and listen to your favourite music on our Sonos system. On the right is the TV room with comfy sofas, open fireplace, big flat screen telly where you can catch up on your favourite program either on wifi connected Sky or Apple TV.
The fully equipped kitchen is accessed from here, for a cottage this room is a good size, easily fitting in a large farmhouse table with six chairs. The kitchen was recently renovated and has everything you need, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and built in oven and hob. A boot room with a washing machine and cloakroom gives you that extra space to hang your coats and boots out of the way. There is WIFI throughout.
Upstairs each of the three bedrooms on the first floor has views to the south, overlooking it’s own five acre paddock and fields beyond. Bedroom one has a large king size bed, bedroom two has a comfy double bed and the third is made up with two large single beds, all bed frames are in traditional brass. Each of the beds has a plump, feathered mattress toppers and a choice of feather or hyper-allergic pillows, feather duvets and all of the bed linen is quality egyptian cotton guaranteeing you a restful nights sleep. This coupled with its very quiet location means you really will be rested throughout your stay. A newly renovated family bathroom with large, fluffy towels, bath and shower completes the upstairs.
The gardens are stunning and can be enjoyed while sitting around the outside table, with uninterrupted views stretching ahead of you. A gas Weber BBQ is there for you to enjoy and the use of Ashwick Court's tennis courts next door are for those who need to burn off some competitive energy, racquets and balls are supplied. Church Cottage is surrounded by public footpaths so you can enjoy the many beautiful walks in the immediate area. There is plenty of parking for two cars, but three can also fit if you double park. Church Cottage is pet friendly but suggest it's not suitable for children under the age of 5 due to the very steep stairs.
Oakhill is just a mile or so up the road with its award winning pub, the Oakhill Inn where they serve delicious home cooked food in a very relaxed pub setting and offer some fabulous local cider and ales.
The Mendip Inn is also located a mile in the other direction at Gurney Slade. It is a contemporary pub that offers an a la cart menu, great Sunday lunches and a good vegetarian selection. The local post office is also located at Gurney Slade.
A local secret is Mr Gillard in his converted ambulance, who can deliver you all of your groceries to your front door every Wednesday.
Tesco’s is in Shepton Mallet, while Waitrose and Morrisons are within easy reach located in the nearby historic city of Wells.
There are plenty of villages, towns and sites to keep you busy within our area of Somerset. Just to give you a taster, Glastonbury is a hippy town full of colourful characters and eclectic shops, a trip up to the Tor is a must with stunning views over the Somerset Levels and surrounding countryside. Historic Wells is our smallest city, the cathedral is breathtaking and the markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays offer you lots of local fare. Frome is easily reachable for something vintage and unique, St Catherine's Hill is like a trip back in time with it's vintage shops, mixed with local artisans and delicious cafes and restaurants.
