Had a fantastic time ,great staff, very attentive, nothing was to much trouble. Took a picture of one staff member ,had to he looked very smart. Sorry Sharon hope his ego didn't run away with him. Lol Can highly recommend this venue. Staff with a fantastic sense of humour and the food was super. Thank you guys for a lovely lunchtime.
Can only heap praise on this lovely oldy world bar and restaurant. Very cosy place with lovely wooden beamed ceilings and gentle music in the background. Staff were very friendly and attentive even though they got quite busy. Our server Sharon was especially friendly and helpful. As for the food can only say excellent, plenty of choices and very well cooked. Will definitely be a place we'll visit again.
Staff are good but food not very good at all. Potatoes reminded me of ready made frozen ones, pale and sponge like. Gravy tasted like they boiled the kettle and stired in the instant kind. Meal was like my nan used to make in the 80's , no skill, bland and boring. Ate it because I was hungry. The £15 could of made a roast chicken home made dinner for 4 and would have been better.
Maybe I should have checked customer reviews before our visit.... Having exchanged some Tesco vouchers for Chef and Brewer...and factoring COVID / Lockdown/ Medical issues....I realised my vouchers were due to expire in the next 5 days . So , as it was my birthday , Hubby and I decided to make the 40 mile trip to Maidstone... Booking was ok ...but woe betide us if we were 15 mins late umm... traveling through Op Brock could be an issue ... So ,we arrived. Table .ok .. nothing special...jutting out into the flow of people near the bar / customers walking past We studied the menu...again ..so so ok ..decided to stick with what we know and like. Hubby had gammon, pineapple and chips ..he left some as it was fatty . I chose the "Drenched chicken in hunters sauce.. " Well , I'm sorry...but definitely not drenched .. tiny amount of sauce... Chicken so tough I couldn't cut part of it steak would have been easier to cut ... overall....a let down I chose a mocha cheesecake...yes ,very tasty...helped make up for poor main meal. A donation is made to Macmillan Cancer for each dish sold cheesecake .. Our waitress was lovely , helpful and chatty . I didn't want to complain about my meal I would be too embarrassed ...but definitely won't revisit .
This restaurant is my absolute favourite place, I can't get enough of the food! The staff are amazing, always making sure yuur happy with everything yuu have ordered, always a great atmosphere everytime i go & I've never been disappointed with anything,
Nice pub but food was not that great. I had the trio of roast, you could tell the potatoes were cooked from frozen and they had been left under a hot plate, it came with 1 little parsnip. The rest of the veg was nice. As for the meat, the beef and turkey was a little fatty and the pork was thick and dry. You pretty much get what you pay for, £16 and arrived in 20 minutes tells you it's not cooked fresh. Shame really as would of liked to of gone back there.
Very good service and I thoroughly enjoyed my choices of courses. Korean chicken starter, sirloin steak albeit no mushrooms as part of the course and a salted caramel sundae. Unfortunately my first choice of mains was not available and only one ale, Greene King on tap. Would certainly come back and would recommend
A great evening, friendly and efficient service from Sharon and Andy. It’s great to see that the pub is buzzing again after all this time. At one point the bar had no seating and it was standing space only. A little bit chilly however Andy assured us the heating was being mended soon. This little issue didn’t distract from the lovely evening we had.
Such an improvement on the Chiltern hundreds since it’s been under new management. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is fantastic, I felt so welcome during my visit today. I will definitely be returning. Thank you Sharon for the fantastic service, and the new manager Andy, the team are a real credit to you
Met friends today for lunch. Again had the seabass. Never fails! Beautiful dish. Lady that served us was really run off her feet! But still served with a smile. One of my favourite places! Well done all.
