Established in 2016, Chestnut House is fast becoming THE place to shop on Ullswater, located in the heart of Pooley Bridge, adjacent to the newly refurbished Crown Inn, we are an independently run off licence, food, drink and outdoor clothing store.

Run by a small but hard working team of 5 staff, we pride ourselves on stocking locally sourced products and we always aim to provide the highest levels of service, both in store and online.

Open 7 days a week, carrying over 150 different gins, 70 Cumbrian real ales, a plethora of Cumbrian spirits and liqueurs, and an eclectic mix of food, drink and outdoor clothing, there really is something for everyone.

What a gem! The selection of 400 gins is impressive! With tasters to try as well. The guy we chatted to was warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable. He said they're open every day but Christmas day! Local gins and whiskey available too. The food hall has a wide selection of fresh food and cupboard essentials. There is also a section upstairs with local produce and even a dog section! Dogs Welcome inside. We were camping and we found everything we needed plus some local gifts to take home for friends and family. Well worth popping in.

The world's best shop... ever! Staff are lovely. The selection is next level and my hubby is addicted to one of the hot sauces from the food shop upstairs. We come back every year and are never disappointed!
Much more than a shop! Fantastic Aladdins cave of lovely things. Bought some beautiful cocktail glasses and ended up going back for more! Best of all the staff are so friendly and helpful... We got loads of recommendations for nice places to eat and to go. Thank you!
What a little gem. Staff all so friendly, and loved our 2 spaniels, eventually winning the youngest one over. BIG selection of drinks and foods, the fresh meat was lovely. We visited every day on our visit to Park Foot.
