Had an absolutely amazing time at Chester lakes. My partner and daughter loved the fishing. We stayed Sunday to Wednesday and the whole site was spotless and staff very friendly. The cafe did really nice food and well priced. We are going again next week.

We discovered Chester Lakes this Spring and since spent 5 nights and a 48hr session on the specimen lake. Each time we arrive we are receive a warm welcome from whoever is on duty and are informed off any entertainment in the marquee and which pegs are free. After the initial check in we are very much left alone and enjoy the privacy of the large pegs on Specimen lake, perfect for a couple in a camper van especially with the live music drifting across the lake. The specimen lake itself brings it's own challenges as the fish aren't easy and I've blanked twice. As I got to know the lake my catch rate improved with a record nine carp in a 24 session, all above 12lb with the largest over 17lb. There are 20's in there too which I am sure will come in time. I have found that the key is to use smaller baits and hooks 14mm pellets never fail and use a maximum size 8 hook. Can also recommend the fisherman's breakfast in the café which works out to be fantastic value.

Nice campsite, lots of toilets and showers with plenty of room for pitching tents in your own space. Bit of noise from the A road, but apart from that lovely. £15 for a two man tent on the camping fields.
