The Charlton Arms is set in the lovely town of Ludlow and on the bank of the river Teme. We were able to check in slightly earlier than scheduled. Car parking is free and there are plenty of spaces available. We booked the hot tub room "Othello" which was a lovely room with really nice complimentary toiletries. The staff are very welcoming and cannot do enough to ensure that you are happy. We had an evening meal and breakfast, both were fantastic quality. The location of the hotel is perfect for a walk up into town or behind the hotel to get views of Ludlow castle and surrounding area. Would love to come back one day.
Top marks all round. Stopping for one night during the week for a mini break with my partner, The Charlton Arms is a perfect spot. The rooms are really nicely styled, making the place feel very cosy - especially with the balcony and views of the river with chairs to enjoy some wine out on the deck. Also, we booked in for dinner on the night, the food was stunning and a great choice of wine, top marks for service, all the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Stopped in here for a couple of drinks early on a Sunday just after they opened at 12. We stood on the terrace overlooking the river and it was fabulous! Very friendly staff and a nice place, the food smelt lovely too. I really recommend calling in!Rooms: 5/5
Charlton Arms is in a wonderful location in Ludlow. We had a suite overlooking the river. Rooms were Impressive and bathroom fabulous. Had dinner there and large portions of food which was tasty. Drinks very expensive and a bottle of prosecco was extortionate. Rooms were a reasonable price. Staff were great; particularly the housekeeping team and the waitresses. Bar staff never seemed happy to see customers. Barman was on reception duty when I checked out. Very sullen. Did not give a good final impression of the Charlton Arms. Pity as it does so much right.
We got together for the evening and overnight stay with two other couples for a rare get together. The whole experience was great. The staff were friendly, efficient and professional. The rooms were very comfortable really comfy beds and great showers. We really enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. Can't fault it. Have been before and will go again. Thank you Charlton Arms.
We had a weekend away and had been recommended this hotel by family, had a one night stay and booked a table for dinner, the room was beautiful, balcony looking over the river, and the furnishing in the room we top quality. Dinner was fantastic, service was swift, food tasted amazing and fairly priced for the quality of the food. Staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you..... Thanks again for making our weekend amazing for my wife's 30th and our 5th wedding anniversary
The hotel is a short walk from the top of the town down a hill with amazing archecture along the way. The hotel lies along a racing river an impressive building. It oozes class very stylish inside it's classy & very comfortable. Drinks service was a very friendly delivery. Look forward to another visit.Service: 5/5
We only came for food so can't comment on the bedrooms. We had a fabulous lunch with family as a belated Christmas treat. The staff were great with sorting out the booking on the phone and discussing dietary requirements, and the text confirmation was very helpful and professional. Location was great, we were sat in the terrace looking out over the river, which was a very comfortable and pleasant setting. There is some parking on site, which was handy. Serving staff were very friendly and professional, and timings were impeccable, we were not waiting too long to give our order, or between courses, but we also did not feel rushed in the slightest. Food was absolutely delicious, the Black Bomber soufflé may be the single most lovely thing I've ever eaten, heaven on a plate. The chocolate and salted caramel tart was also fabulous. The rest of our group also really enjoyed their food, and the vegan dishes were also lovely and very flavourful. As a small suggestion, it would be great to have a vegan option for each course on the menu itself or an asterix next to dishes that can potentially be made vegan rather than having to call ahead to discuss, as plant-based/vegan diets are increasingly common these days. There were some very, very minor details that were missed we had to ask for a spoon for the linguini, and a bowl for the empty mussel shells and when it arrived it was too small to hold them all but they are very small nitpicking details and didn't detract at all from our experience. It was also nice to have some zero-alcohol drink options - the no alcohol G&T was very good and made it a bit more special for a family lunch than the usual soft drink for those of us who were not drinking. Prices were also very reasonable for the quality of the food and the experience. We were very pleasantly surprised so we'll definitely want to come back again in future! Thank you so much to everyone for such a wonderful lunch.
