A good place to trade in unwanted tech, the prices won't be as good as selling on other platforms but the ease of the process is what makes it. I would always advise to avoid the mid day rush as it can get busier to buy or sell, some of the used game prices can be a little confusing as buying new can be cheaper, however if you have a certain bit of kit in mind you may find the trade ins are outweighed by the convenience. Staff are great, always helpful every time I visit.
Staff are pretty friendly, got a lot of options, generally cheaper than places like Game & HMV. Not always though. Had 1 bad experience where the staff put the wrong disc in a box set and they refused to refund/replace because I didn't have my receipt. Which is my own fault really but still left a sour taste.
Terrible service. I queued today for almost 30mins in an almost empty shop to buy a dvd only to see multiple staff members ignoring customers and walking around in circles behind the counter. Only a few were serving people. All customers looked fed up and the line was building behind us. After waiting so long I put the dvd back and left. I'll be buying it online elsewhere now. Not that the store will care, since they have such a blasé attitude to serving people. Such a shame as I've used this store for years but the staff and service have gone downhill tremendously.
this is my favourite place. pretty much my second home. well not really because i dont go that often but it is pretty good on the times i do go. i come here to add to my collection of games and dvds. most of the times i come to cex i buy a lot of games or dvds so it should take a while but the staff do it as fast as possible so thats good. also i sold an xbox here and i got the money in store credit the next day, was very easy and simple to do. ive tried to sell 360 games before but they were all "too scratched" so they wouldnt take them, thats a bit annoying but oh well makes sense i guess. thanks
Although who served me seemed very polite. I ran into the same problem many other people have mentioned in their reviews on here, i took in an oculus quest 2 to sell and was told they couldnt take it as the lense was chipped, i had to ask the person behind the counter to point it out to me and i was confused as i thought that was just the shape of the lense. When i got home i compared my oculus to my brothers and my brothers had the exact same thing, turns out i was right its just the shape of the lense. They accepted the games i took in no problem but again i seemed to get less in cash than what was stated on the cex website again another complaint many others have run into and mentioned in their reviews
I have used CEX for years and always has been one of my favourite shops when I am in the city centre but recently I feel like it has gone downhill. The customer service you receive is appalling, the queue can be a mile long and there is more than enough staff on but they decide to talk to each other behind the tills and make you wait a ridiculous amount of time! They have knocked me down in price a lot of times when items have been in pristine condition and well looked after especially mobile phones which have been in protective cases and never dropped once but they always 'seem' to find a fault with it. This samsung A53 for example see picture... It was grade A with not a mark on it and after testing was done, suddenly it had a bent screen and they couldn't offer anything even though it was still under warranty. So I took it to the crystal peaks branch and they tested it and didn't mention anything about a bent screen but suddenly they said there was a delay on the camera and they couldn't accept it to trade it in!!! So I took it to the barnsley branch and they accepted it straight away for trade in and gave me full price so I could upgrade it! I don't feel like they are as honest anymore and like they try to see if they can knock you down in price and get away with saving giving you the full price you deserve. I will not be using this branch anymore and a lot of the phones I have got have had issues with, including a S7 edge battery nearly blowing up and swelling in the back of the phone!! Sort out your customer service, us the people keep you in business and if we aren't treat right then don't expect customers to be coming back!!! Take a long look in the mirror people!! Also I have to pay parking every time to get near your store just for you to turn around and say you won't accept a phone anyway when I bought it from YOU and its supposed to be under warranty!!!! good shop but do they have disc repair? someone awnser soon i have 4 just dance dvds in my fridge im that desperate to fix them
I would say avoid this place, but, there are no better CEX stores elsewhere. This one however, is often full of dubious looking people. Additionally, there is a weird smell when entering. I don’t like the place. I don’t like CEX! In their defence, the staff are nice.
Good staff. Plenty of electronics to by. A selection of camera lenses.
