Wondered into the cemetery today on my lunch break and what a stunning place it is. You do not need to be a fan of the macabre to appreciate what is a blend of remembrance and nature. It is well looked after with some stunning autumnal views. No parking on site but I think that is what has allowed this site to stay at the caliber it is

Great place to look around, even if you aren't visiting the grave of a loved one. Well kept cemetery and it also has basic amenities. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Actually a nice place to be even though it is a cemetery, the canal to which you have access through a gate has a nice towpath walk, I noticed there were quite a few graves of Italian's, I wondered why so tried some research but did not really come up with anything, it's definitely worth a wander round

Come ghouls and children of the night, see the history and majesty of this devine graveyard. A massive functional and beautiful place for reflection and quiet walks. The range and number of gravestones and stories here is immense and dates back to the beginning of Retford itself. See the beautiful monuments to the fantastical voayge of human entropy that is in state here. Or simply pay your respects to the witch in her hidden grave under the main concourse of the cemetery. Wonderfully tended and with fantastic amenities. A truly beautiful example of its type. Why not stop a while and enjoy it's dark gifts.
