Cawfields Roman Mile Castle is a very interesting structure to visit if your into Roman History. You can clearly see this mile Castle was built as an after thought as it butts upto Hadrian's Wall and not built into it as others on the Wall. To be honest there's not alot to see😕 Very Good parking available but its run by the National Park Service and not by English Heritage. On the plus side one parking ticket is valid for all National Park run car parks. Good but basic toilets in the parking area but no cafe. Path towards the Mile Castle is broad and flat but at the Farmer's gate and beyond its steep and not wheel chair friendly. Good size picnic area with small stream for children to slash about in (approximately 4 feet wide and a foot deep in some places) The car park is actually part of the old quarry, the rest of it is one big pond which is VERY Deep and Very Dangerous.

One of the most accessible places to get to the wall. Parking. Loos. No museum or heritage centre (there's one further up the road) but great if you just want to see the wall.

One of the best preserved sections of the Wall. It's totally worth the visit: Roman milecastle, turret, camps... and a stunning northern landscape

Works well! If you like walls this will impress you! We didn't walk the full 73 miles but what we saw was good.
