Excellent surgery fantastic staff been a patient at this surgery for 10 years and they always helped me
My wife and I have been patients at this surgery for around 2 years now. I have always been meaning to write a review about this surgery but then life gets in the way. However enough is enough. There have been several occasions in the past where I've called in for an emergency appointment only to be fobbed off by the receptionist. There usual response is along the lines off "they don't have any more appointments and will have to book an appointment which is usually 2 weeks down the line". When calling the Surgery's telephone number, I'm usually having to wait in excess of 30 minutes. sometimes the phone line disconnects. On the rare occasions that the receptionist does pick up, we usually get a hostile response. The times where I have had an appointment I have made observations. The surgery does not look busy at all. At any given time I have come across 1-3 patients in the waiting area. Furthermore when approaching the receptionist's window it really doesn't appear like they are busy at all. Some of the Doctors are very hostile also. I appreciate that they may be under pressure however being courteous and polite, especially in their line of work should be a given. Now that we have a 1 year old baby, you would think that getting an emergency appointment would be easier, however that is far from the truth. There's only really 2 options: 1 you can't get through or 2 once you do get through, have to book an appointment usually 2 weeks away. I am really considering to complain about this surgery to the relevant regulatory bodies. My previous doctors surgery in Hitchin was a dream. Receptionists and Doctors actually did their work and the surgery ran like clock work. Cater Street Surgery seems to be a mess.
I have been with the Surgery for approximately 33 years now and have seen many changes throughout the years, and I can safely put my hand on my heart and say the reason I have been there for so long is simply one word- 'CONTENTMENT'. I am very proud to say that 3 generations of my family are with Cater Street and hope they also experience the same level of contentment as me. I am also very fortunate to have a kind, considerate and professional doctor, who really and truly understands my medical issues.
Receptionists will do anything to not answer the phone when you need to make an appointment. And they can be rude when you actually go to the appointment. But one of their doctors Dr Soma is absolutely awesome. So, this should not reflect on him.
Other half is a patient. Other half phoned up to book an appointment with one of the Doctors. Receptionist is very rude over the phone and the Doctor said they did not care while being very sarcastic. Very unprossional and from previous reviews it clearly shows that other people are having the same problems. Reception leave the phone off the hook as well so getting through can be quite annoying. Other half is definitely changing Doctors. Close this Surgery down now and strike off all the Doctors immediately. Completely useless and sometimes use Google to diagnose patients.
I have been with this surgery since 1982, so I guess I can give a opinion. May I first say, dont bother going to the doctors, just go to the pharmacy first. The surgery is now very unreliable. There is 1 permanent doctor and the others are locums or nurses. You are given a app that allows you to book a appointment, however none are ever on it. You have to wait after 30 minutes to be told no appointments are left. The surgery is being run into the ground. I would leave the surgery but no doctors are taking patients in the area. Please google let me give 0 star rating.
I’ve had my gout flare up again which I haven’t had in a long time and had used up my last lot of tablets some time ago so until doctors opened up I was taking Tesco painkillers and ibuprofen but this just wasn’t shifting it or only slightly numbing the severe pain I was getting from it in my left big toe. I tried to get appointment on 2/1/18 but couldn’t so I said no problem can you get doctor to give me a call back so I can explain and the doc writes a prescription out for me to collect. They said yes the doc will call you some time today so I go to work hobbling with my phone in my pocket in which your not really allowed to have st my work. So I can get disciplined for this but this I really need my gout tablets. Anyhow get to afternoon time still no call so at 4pm ish I call them to see what’s going on. Receptionist says you are on the list and they will call once they finish surgery. Anyhow 6.13pm they call but because I’m at work I either don’t here it or signal doesn’t connect it goes to answerphone. So I listen when I see it 15mins later call them back but no doctors is closed. So that night once I finished my late shift I’m taking two tablets every two hours and all through the night trying to sleep but by now the pain is very severe. Morning comes I call in straight away and still no appointment for me so this time after I explained the history so far the receptionist puts me on a morning call back so I wait again. But 10 o’clock arrives still nothing bare in mind my shift starts at 2pm and I know I’m gunna need a good few hours to get the tablets into my system to work possibly in order to get to work. I then make decision to turn up at docs I see receptionist and explain and after some tough negotiation I managed to get her to speak to doctor but she comes back and says he won’t see me or write out a prescription until he’s finished all his surgery. I take one look around the room and it’s empty apart from one older guy in there waiting, so I say WHAT there is one guy in here and we are talking 2-3mins max to establish it’s me I’ve got gout and type and sign my prescription out. Still no so I then think and say to receptionist right I’ve no alternative I will go to casualty then. She said yes your have to do that then. So I replied do you want me to seriously clog up a&e with Gout??? Anyhow no talking to her so I have to leave and then I think no I try walk in centre so I go all the way to putnoe having to walk or hobble to car then drive with my clutch foot in severe pain still to see a doctor there. Anyhow after over 3hrs waiting time I get seen to then be told they can’t see my medical history only the last thing I was in for which was the chest infection last week so it only showed what I was prescribed for that. And so she said I’ve got to see my doctor as they are the only ones who can prescribe the medication I usually have for my gout. Anyhow I said what rubbish this was as I get given a different kind of drug evertime I go to see a doctor as at my doctors I have to see whatever doctor is working that day and each one has his or her own medications they prescribe either that or they are packaged differently every time??? Anyhow in the end all I got from the walk in centre was supposedly some stronger painkillers Naproxen but it’s still not clearing my gout and only slightly numbing the pain. But whilst I was in the walk in centre fir so many hours my phone battery died and guess what at 1244pm which is I class afternoon I get my so called morning callback from doctors but obviously they could only leave a voicemail. So where I stand now is I had to go back and phone the doctors to get a call back for tomorrow morning again and await to get my tablets still. So because I can’t put a sock or my safety boots on I therefore can’t go work today and I dare say I will not be there tomorrow either as the doctors morning call is in another time zone probably because there bloody foreign so it will not be until afternoon again by which time it will not be fit in time for tomorrow shift either #disgusting
The surgery runs fine. You can always get an emergency appointment if you ring first thing , not always possible to see same doctor as they seem to have a lot of locom doctors at the moment. Friendly and not too busy.
Near Impossible to get through to anyone, generally unhelpful, and just a terrible experience also, and because apparently illness or needing to order medication or anything else a GP would be needed for doesn't exist on "public holidays" they're also closed on Bank Holidays.
This maybe a one off, by my god. I tried calling to get a appointment and the queue was above 30 people! If its this bad, employ more receptionist. Utterly ridiculous
