Like most shopping centres, there were lots of empty units. We went to have a look, as we stayed at a hotel nearby. Just stopped to have a coffee and croissant for breakfast at Coffee 1, which was good. Wouldn't really bother visiting again, it's such a shame that shopping centres are dying.
Not a huge place. Has some variety in shops but doesn't have enough to cover all needs. However, just outside it up a street is Tess's Brilliant Bakes Cafe, worth a visit to Banbury just for that. Lovely breakfast, amazing cinnamon buns and the treats on offer are just amazing.
Cracking shopping centre, absolutely spotlessly clean. Dog friendly and staff/proprietors are all so welcoming. Great to be able to pop over from our moored boat and get my puppy some positive interactions inside a shopping area. He’s loved the attention and cuddles from shoppers and staff. Shame to see so many empty shopping units, but that’s just a sign of the times unfortunately. Enjoying our fortnight here.
Lots of empty shops, big stores have closed and the main draw for the town shopping wise is the Gateway retail park. First moved to Banbury in 2019 since then Debenhams has disappeared Gap gone, Marks & Spencer, plus a closure of lots of independent stores. Pretty much the same as most town centres across the UK really a bit sad.
Nice little shopping area near the center of town. A number of good stores and quite a few spots to grab a bite.
Used to be very nice but there's a lot less things to do now. Hardly any clothing shops and many empty store spaces. Not worth travel from far away as so much parking has to be paid for, this is probably a factor into its decline in shops. Shame really. However I'm not gonna say its entirely bad. The new Lock 29 section has a fantastic atmosphere, lovely staff and is just really pleasant to be in, I just hope we get more diverse shops soon please no more coffee shops!
A beautifully kept shopping centre. It was disappointing to see some of the shops shut. But there is still a nice selection both here & in the town. Plenty of parking & eateries We enjoyed our little walk along the tow path, & sat & watched to barges come & go.
Brilliant museum well worth a visit. It's also free.
Hideous place. Usual big stores, appalling cafes and bars. Toilets badly signposted & difficult to find. This development has compleiteley destroyed a beautiful historic area.
Went on a Friday afternoon. Hardly anyone about. Half the units are empty. No atmosphere. Terrible state of affairs. Lock 29 is a good addition, though.
