I am deeply disappointed with the current state of Castle Quay Shopping Centre and Banbury as a whole. What was once a vibrant and thriving town centre has now been reduced to a mere shadow of its former self. The shops that once bustled with activity are now dwindling, leaving little to no reason to visit. The atmosphere is severely lacking, and the centre no longer offers anything to draw people in.nnOne of the most significant issues is the lack of support for visitors. Offering free parking should be a basic amenity to encourage foot traffic, yet instead, it feels like the focus is on issuing parking tickets rather than making the shopping experience enjoyable. There seems to be no concerted effort to attract shoppers or enhance the overall experience.nnRegrettably, the decline of the town is starkly reflected in Castle Quay Shopping Centre. The failure of the local council and government to support local businesses and maintain the appeal of the town centre has driven commerce online, leaving little incentive for in-person visits. My recent experience confirmed that there is simply nothing left to buy, and as a result, I will no longer be visiting.nnIf it were possible to give zero stars, I would. Unfortunately, I must even give one. The neglect from the local authority has been truly disappointing, and without significant changes—such as the introduction of free parking and a revitalisation of the shopping experience—I see no reason to return.
This used to be the place to go, but the shame is lot's of shops closing down, and some already empty. Councils need to do more to help these struggling businesses, lot's of lovely cafes and eaterys, but if shops shut where will people go , online and not bother going out, we have a serious problem.
It's very sad looking. 20 years ago it was a favourite of ours. Always busy. We haven't been for ages. There was nothing there to attract us back again. That surely is the result of out of town retail parks. I feel sorry for the outlets that are still there. Banbury has in general lost its appeal for me!
