My sister and I stopped in here today for dinner to celebrate my birthday. The pub was short staffed - which I understand can't be helped. But this did cause long ques to order food. Very limited menu for alcoholic drinks, they also didnt seem to have alot of food in stock which was shocking given how quiet it was. My drink which consisted of raspberry vodka, prosecco and lemonade tasted like watered down soda water. Despite the pub being almost empty at 5pm the food took a while to come out, starters and main came together. I ordered a butternut squash curry. When the waitress brought this out I double checked to ensure I was the vegetarian one and she confirmed. Only to start eating it and realise it was a chicken tikka! I don't eat meat and have food intolerances. No apology from the waiter until much later. No manager or staff member came out to see if we was happy with our meal or to apologise for the mix up! When my correct meal came out it was a luke warm, overcooked micro meal! Not worth the £10 spent on the dish!! When I went to the toilet I was greeted to water gushing out of the ceiling. I didnt want to complain. I'm not a confrontational person. However my sister notified the manager of the wet floor and mix up with the food. He was at least helpful and refunded that meal. However shortly after leaving the pub I felt very ill! Which is absolutely due to the food served. This isn't the only poor food and service I have recieved from this chain pub. I will not be visiting again. Very disappointed. Vegetarian options: Awful. Over cooked and was served meat.
Very long wait times food okay with undercooked egg. Desert was better but still not worth while as the completely forgot about it. And left me sitting there for half an hour. Tables sticky no hand sanitiser. Reduced menu.
Food was ‘okay’ and the atmosphere seemed crazy, I understand it was a Sunday but there seemed to be a need for more staff. The soft play was over ran with older kids who’d taken all the toys from the toddler area meaning we just walked away. For the carvery we stood for 10-15 minutes waiting for someone to come and cut of our meat. Multiple staff walked by or watched 3 of us waiting with no indication of anyone coming. A child was sick on the floor by us and blue roll was put over it but nobody cleared it away which means it sat there until we left about 30-40 minutes. There was a lovely lady trying to sort everything and a lovely waiter but the place needs more staff- it’s not fair on them. Kid-friendliness: Great when it’s quiet but the play section needs an area sectioned for toddlers so older children cannot take all the toys or push younger ones out the way.
Mariano and his staff are simply fantastic. My family and I had Sunday lunch at Castle Lake, it was fantastic the food was beautiful, fresh and hot and the staff couldn't do enough for you. It was very clean and had a lovely atmosphere, Mariano was amazing and ran everything like clock work even though it was extremely busy everything was done quick and with a smile. The play area for the little ones is amazing and once again very clean and had festive music playing. I would highly recommend castle lake And will be visiting Mariano and the Team very soon
Waited in a queue for 20 minutes, only two staff taking orders. Waited an hour for our meal to arrive, then asked how much longer it would be. Brought out two meals which had obviously been waiting on the side for the other two meal and were just warm. Food was ok. Coffee self service from a machine which was only warm. Staff were polite, but clearly not enough staff to cope with amount of customers.
Really disgusted and appalled with castle lake today. Had a booking for ten people for Mother’s Day Sunday and when we turned up they said the booking wasn’t showing up on their systems so we couldn’t be seated. We had a booking reference and number which we showed them! AND phoned to confirm the booking in advance! but were basically told it was our problem and they couldn’t do anything. For an issue that was clearly on their end we were offered no compensation or anything so were left standing outside the restaurant with no table and no food despite booking a month in advance. Absolutely disgusting to not even be offered any compensation or alternative considering it was their problem and their fault as we had the proof we did everything right from our end despite being told we ‘probably did something wrong’. Do NOT even bother coming here because god forbid your booking didn’t go through, you’re stuffed. Ruined Mother’s Day for all ten of us as we were left stood outside a restaurant when we were meant to be going out for a dinner that we had family members travel over an hour for. Don’t bother. Awful.
Terrible experience. We had been coming for years as we are local and it’s always great to bring the kids. New management here and they are abrupt and rude. They really don’t like kids. I had booked my sons birthday party last year. I came in to check all was still going to plan for the party. They could not find my booking. After I waited over an hour they found it but said we could no longer have the entertainment I had booked. They clearly did not want the business. In the process of waiting and discussing, they made us feel on edge and my husband got shouted at for going to the wrong table. We cancelled our booking for the party. Will no longer be coming here.
breakfast is great, dinners are great. the customer service was mind-blowing it was that good. definitely returning here. highly recommend it to everyone of all ages. there is a play area as well for children to go in
Food was fine, softplay was closed, but we was informed prior of arrival which was good. Staff were great, happy and polite. Food took along time to come out. Was also cold in the restaurant but we all know why that is these days. The only thing that I found unacceptable was the state of the men's toilets, I won't go too much into detail, so all I'll say is unhygienic at its most.
Booked this because it had a play area for my grandson who struggles in crowded places. When we got there, the play area was closed. Didn't tell us when we booked, signs outside didn't say it was closed. So they let us get in there before telling us. Then, when my grandson was having a meltdown, they told us "food will take minimum 45 minutes" and half the items were off the menu, but we'd have to order to find out which. The surly, rude guy at the door started getting wound up with people complaining about the closed play area. Like it was their fault! Trust me, the play area is the only thing going for this place. Barmaid asked if I wanted a glass with my bottle of ale!!!! I'll never go back to this place, total lack of respect for local customers. Food was OK eventually, but not enough to make me want to go back.
