I have been going to this lovely place for about 15 years now, they are such lovely people and do the BEST pork rolls i have ever known! i would rather go here than to the commercial brands around any day, support local businesses as they need us Vegetarian options: Have different food options to choose from Kid-friendliness: Variety if food for all ages
Always amazing hot baps and cups of tea. All at the most reasonable prices you'll find in town too. Very friendly presume husband and wife team who have been there 22 years now whilst neighbouring businesses have come and gone. Hard to pass after you've been once! A little gem
Terrible first impression!!! Called in for the first time, on my way to my new job, to get a breakfast sandwich, after noting that they take card payments. Ordered my sandwich, waited while they made it, and went to pay by card to THEN be told that the minimum spend was five pounds. I hadn't seen a sign anywhere advising of that. The sandwich was three pounds eighty, or something, and there was nothing else I wanted. They tried to talk me into spending over a fiver, but I didn't want sweets, pop, cake or an instant coffee. They didn't offer to charge me five pounds and give me the change out of the till. They didn't advise me where the nearest cash machine was. They just stood staring at me, like it was my job to find the solution. I had no cash, and since they were so unhelpful I had to leave the sandwich and walk out of their shop empty handed, and a bit humiliated to be honest. So they won't be getting any of my money, ever, and a breakfast sandwich every morning would have added up for them. "Sorry", they said, as I walked out. Was it sorry they lost my business forever, or sorry they seemed completely incapable of offering any kind of solution that might've encouraged me to ever go back in there? Doesn't matter which. I won't be going back.
I've been meaning to leave this place a review since my first visit several weeks ago. The bacon and egg banjo I had was spot on and the hot pork cobs are devine. I certainly recommend the Breakfast Banquet Cob/Bap to fill a hole until evening meal.
Minimum payment of £5 for using a debit card is a bit backwards in this day and age, especially when most sandwiches are under £5! Transaction prices aren’t that much with a prober contract. Her loss, won’t be back.
Had some time to kill before my next train and was told there was a tesco nearby but the smell from here drew me in! Had a bacon, egg and mushroom butty and it was delicious, hoping for more time between trains back so I can pop back in on my way home!!
The team at Castle Banquet are amazing! They are always very friendly and the food is amazing and hearty. I make sure to stop by anytime I finish early at work to make sure I get one of their amazing baps and have a friendly chat.
Amazing roast pork baps. Great breakfast baps and sandwiches. Theres a range of cold fillings for baps and rolls too, or you could try them as a salad box. Normally they have a selection of pasties, sausage rolls, and slices too. And there's a range of cakes and hot and cold drinks. But for me it's all about the hot pork baps!
Always beautiful food and lovely staff. Just a shout out to the guy working this morning he had a huge order, was run off his feet but still took care in everything he was making and kept smiling! Excellent customer service :
I had some time between trains so I walked up the street to look for something to eat. The lovely roast pork sitting in the window grabbed my attention, so I went in and ordered a pork sandwich. Best decision I ever made.
