Two poutine obsessed Brits bringing the best poutine to the UK. Having traded in street food for 2 years we now have our own restaurant in Liverpool!

Story

Michael & Lizzie met whilst living in beautiful Mont Tremblant in eastern Canada back in 2013. Whilst training as ski instructors here in the land of poutine, they would fill their bellies maybe too often with this Canadian favourite and became a little obsessed.

Craving those curds once back in England, they set up CARIBOU POUTINE in 2014 with a mission to bring poutine to the UK and have never looked back since.

For two years they traded across the country at street food events and private gigs everywhere from Birmingham, London, Oxford, Manchester, Leeds and Cambridge! Throughout this time they introduced poutine into the lives of many and have now set up permanently on Slater Street to bring this Canadian classic to Liverpool city centre!

Comfort food is taken to a whole new level with a wide selection of high quality toppings available in addition to classic poutine, all eaten in a warm and friendly atmosphere!

Used to come here very often as the food was lovely, but it appears to be going downhill. The last few times my partner has come to get a 'too good to go' meal on offer for us, he found that the staff were noticeably very rude and arsey with him - almost like we had to apologise for having an order which is such a shame! The last order we had, it was too salty and I found the steak to be too under done to my liking which has often meant I've left a lot of it at the end of the meal. Hopefully, the manager of this place can sort out the issues with staff and their attitude and behaviour towards customers, as well as the food quality, otherwise I doubt even more customers, like us, who have been coming for years, will continue to drop off quite quickly... -> Pictures attached are from tonight's 'too good to go' order as we thought we'd give it a second chance. Food was completely inedible, and had to throw most of it away, it was mostly black and tasted like charcoal, just completely burnt. Feeling very sick after only a couple of mouthfuls, absolutely disgusting. I hope someone like Gordon Ramsay visits them to kick the chef into gear. I won't be returning again.
It's ok, fries and sauce are nice but bacon is a bit burnt and too salty. The chicken side is fine.Food: 3/5
I got the steak poutine, it did not disappoint, well cooked for my liking, lashings of gravy and perfectly cooked chips. Friendly staff! I'll be back soon Food: 5/5
Superb flavors! Very tasty poutine with good portion sizes. Great quality steak! Don't skip on the sweet treats! Expect some wait times based on pick-up orders. But everything gets freshly prepared. They got a handful of seats/tables available. Everything, even when dining in, is served in paper dishes which results in a lot of rubbish!
I always make sure to eat here whenever I'm in Liverpool and a couple weeks ago I was in town for my brothers stag do. Caribou Poutine is what I was looking forward to the most and once again it did not disappoint! There are options to cater to all tastes and everyone in the group loved it. Its open quite late which was helpful too. Looking forward to next time already!
Before I posted here, I have ordered three times from these amazing people. You feel their passion for poutine in every bite. All 3 times were perfect. Their poutine is that type of food which doesn’t need any additional ingredients or doesn’t missing anything, it’s just perfect. Deffo is in my list of preferences and I highly recommend to anyone! Big and mouthwatering portions, perfect medium rare steak, savoury gravy… it’s insane in the good meaning of this word!
I’ve never tried Poutine before but certainly hit the spot. Great place for anyone fancying something a little different with a Canadian twist. The star of the menu is, shock, the poutine. The portions are generous and there are variations to try. Highly recommended!Food: 5/5
Steak poutine with an extra egg is a stable favourite. Salt and pepper chicken was good too. Atmosphere could be improved with some more Canada themed decorations on the walls.Food: 5/5
Amazing value for money and proper comfort food! I’m always excited to get a poutine from Caribou and I’m always blown away by the value for money! Super tasty and filling and loads of extras like the baked goods that are to die for!
I'd give it a solid 4 despite I had to wait for my order staff was sound food was great but it was very over powered by salt. I love salt on my food but it was over powering something needs to be done cos the food was good but all tha salt just killed the food I couldn't enjoy it like I wanted too. I never complain with food, but felt it had to be mentioned you can always add to you're food but never take away. So just add a small amount or none an let the customer add there own salt.
