John was entertaining, witty and informative. His jokes were not for the faint-hearted and at times ran a little long but he clearly has a love and passion for history and Canterbury that shone through. I did think there would be more paranormal aspects but did appreciate the jump scares and spooky tales. We also did this tour on a Saturday night and John handled the rowdy drunks effortlessly. Really enjoyable! Thanks John
My sister gifted me this Ghost Tour for my birthday and I loved it. The tour twisted and turned through the dark streets of Canterbury as John brought its gruesome history to life. It was great hearing about Canterbury’s dark past, and actually taking the time to stop and observe it, rather than jostle quickly through its streets as I often do. The route is flat, on chiefly cobbled streets, and involves gentle walking for over an hour. The tales are told with humour and passion and John is clearly very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.
John was a great story teller with frightening jump scares! The audience engagement was good and I appreciate he came out in freezing temperatures. I can see why some people may have been offended by the jokes as some were a little bit old fashioned but overall it was a great experience, we learnt a lot about the history of Canterbury, would recommend.
Had a great time learning some of the history of Canterbury, John was a fantastic host who interacted with the audience, some of the more sensitive among us may not enjoy this brand of humour but that's on them! Would recommend to anyone looking for a light-hearted experience learning about some gruesome history
Thought he was amusing and good at breaking the ice at first but then realised he just likes putting down and slating everyone, every country, every culture. He enjoyed his political jokes and getting the group to chant silly things. It lacked real gritty information and that scare factor. He even slated the York Ghost tour, suggesting they made up their stories, York isn't even close by, so why slate them? And anyway I thought they were much better. At least we got to see many different allies and hear many more ghostly tales. Canterbury Ghost Tour...it certainly wasn't. Not even close.
Did the Ghost tour last night, Lee was our guide and he was fantastic, even dealing with the few intoxicated hecklers in a hilarious way. Really is worth going on for the history and some spooky stories, expect some great humour and laughs . Thoroughly enjoyed the whole tour and will be going back again later this year with another group.
We had Lee for our tour...was excellent hearing the stories despite the pouring rain!!! Will definitely be back another time. Thank you Lee
If you are in Canterbury and you have an evening spare this is a must see and do.. John amazed all the group with stories of ghosts and of old. Such interesting history and knowledge of both Canterbury and the ghosts.. take the kids and he makes them join in.. our boys had a great time..
First time doing a history tour after many visits to Canterbury and it always being on my to do list. Did not disappoint and had a great night. Sad to see people below commenting negatively on the tour, lighten up guys.. Go with an open mind, relax and I promise you will enjoy it. Also had a nice glass of wine at alberrys meeting point before we set off so recommend getting there early to have a drink beforehand.
Extremely entertaining, funny and full of interesting facts. Host was very friendly and interactive with everyone. Highly recommended
