I actually came and left at Canterbury West. Although I did go to Canterbury East Station and the walk through the park to get there was very nice. Also the staff were very helpful/knowledgeable at the station.
Ticket Barriers are often open in the early mornings which is great! Other than that the waiting room has a heater on when it was one of the hottest days of the year and staff seemed grumpy. Regular trains going to London tho
I used canterbury east as part on my journey today 08.03.25 to get faversham and I was feeling a little unwell due to issues with my heart. On my trip back I rested to try and get my heart rate down and was chatting to a couple staff members. A lady and a gent helped me. The gentleman phoned for a cab for me so I could get to the other station in canterbury to carry on my journey. It was very nice to just have proper service and meet helpful people. I apologise for not getting names but I hope they realise how nice it was especially when feeling very rough.
Very rude security staff at the exit/entrance. A friend was denied entry to the platform after being told they had the wrong ticket. The ticket they had was for a train after the next and while I understand why it was stopped at the gate as it is automated, the staff refused to listen to us and even laughed at us and told my friend they would have to buy another ticket or they wouldn’t be let through. The ticket was the exact same price route, just an hour earlier. Any other security staff at other stations would have easily recognised it was an automation issue and my friend had the correct ticket and let them through, yet the staff at Canterbury East were persistently unhelpful and rude.
I dropped a shopping bag at the station & following a phone call from the guard at my arrival station was told it had been found. However I was only visiting, so unable to collect in Canterbury. I filed a lost property report & was told it would be sent to Cannon st within 14 days. However I have hear nothing. Just wondering if anyone knows of a phone number at Canterbury East station?
