If you want to have a rest , and play a pool or table tennis, or just to dance ... and to get for a good price drinks... this is the place whete you can get all of this!
A great night out shooting pool and enjoying karaoke over a few bevvies with the mates .... with a great friendly diverse crowd
Went to the karaoke night last Sunday. Plenty of tables available for some pool beforehand followed by a lovely DJ with an extremely extensive karaoke selection. Bar staff were friendly, drinks a decent price and the atmosphere was really good - warm and friendly throughout. Would highly recommend!
This place has been around for years and it shows. It's really run down and dingy and could definitely do with a little brightening up, despite this, it doesn't effect the atmosphere or your game and I would come again. I visited on a Saturday evening, it was busy, all tables were full and people at the bar have a drink and chat. If I can remember, there are approximately 6 full-size pool tables. The lady at the bar was very friendly and accommodating.
Surprisingly pretty good. Don't be intimidated by the random dark alley it appears to be down, there's a ton of room once you get inside and the pool room is welcoming and comfortably shabby. Get your cues, crisps and happy-hour drinks from the little bar at the entrance.
Never have I been so poorly treated by staff. Rude bouncers, totally unreasonable people. Total jobsworths, trying to double charge me for entry, insisting that we check our coats as leaving them to one side was 'a fire hazard' on a completely empty dance floor. Reminded me of a tragic 90's disco - do not go here.
Not like it used to be....ridiculous heavy weight security to get through the door ....then when your through its a dark hole full of strangers. The "late night" effect is the only influence...bar staff are friendly, shame it doesn't have the same charm as it used to....locals replaced with student type crowd which is a shame as its nice when it was mixed crowds.
Despite appearances was actually a good night out. Music was decent, people were cool, toilets didn't have a guy in asking for money plus there's pool tables. The cons; red stripe is rubbish beer... Edit: thanks for the reply. Gutted, 1664 is my standard beer haha. Anyways I'll be back so thanks for the tip!
£7 entry to the bleakest, most rundown place in the whole of South East London. Security are over zeleous to the point of being obnoxious, the music is lazy and predictable, the drinks on offer mirror what you'd expect at a student disco in the 90s and it smells of damp. The only decent thing is that paying for your god awful tasteless drink is easy.
I went to Canavan's last Saturday. It was my first time ever going there and I had a horrible experience with the security staff. After paying £6 and not receiving a wrist band like everyone else I didn't think anything of it. I had been outside twice with friends and was not questioned about not having a wristband until the third time. I told the new security guard on duty I had been walking in and out without a wristband the whole night and my friend even went to get me one from the door staff. But this other security guard- who must have been the manager said he isn't letting my back in because I was aggressive to his staff. Which is in no way true. I may have cursed in frustration but it was hardly agressive in anyway. I'm a small girl. For this big man to deny one young woman's entry entry is absurd. Even the other guard who had seen me acted like she didn't know who I was. I know this is probably a company the venue hires but they need to do better and in choosing what kind of people they have at the front of their business. Being I was one of the few people of colour there I do feel like the security guards where being racially discriminatory.
