Went there for lunch with the family. Firstly the grounds are simply breathtaking. However the choice of lunch was terrible. Choices were... wait for it - A closed sandwich, open sandwich or and toastie. I had the sirloin sandwich. Now I knew the wasn't going to be a steak in the sandwich. But what came was a single thin slice of meat and could even taste it with the amount of horse radish on it. But that wasn't the worst part of my experience. But I can't blame the establishment for this. When I entered the hotels conservatory. The guests looked at me like I offended them by walking in, looking down their noses at me. Now I have a thick skin but I won't be back there purely down to its clientele thinking they are better than anyone else. giving it 3 stars on the view alone, on the other experience I would give 1.

Excellent venue for short quiet break. Old fashioned but historic place. Great for golfing & local walks. Good food & excellent service. Decent pool & gym. Wonderful setting. Caters for dogs. Staff are very friendly but not trying to be too intrusive.

Lovely venue and very accommodating staff. Interesting food selection and some of it (bisque for example) could do with taste-tasting before being served.

Gorgeous big room. Staff are so friendly and accommodating. Food is of a really high standard.

Stayed two nights at the hotel with a view of holding a yearly reunion next June for 16 people. A very warm welcome at reception set the tone for our stay. Accommodation second to none, roomy well equiped and spotless. Restaurant well laid out with plenty of room. The four course dinners were were very well prepared and tasty. Plenty of staff and were all very attentive. We played golf on a well maintained course, tough and lots of water. A thoroughly enjoyable stay all round, hope to be back next June
