It was quite busy Sunday morning but still had a great meal, tasty and very reasonable for the portion size. Great service as always from Claire and Julie. Would recommend the all day brunchFood: 4/5
First ever visit to this cafe today. Super friendly staff. Delicious lemon cake being sold for only £1.50 in aid of charity. Busy and very popular but seating still available. Really great value for money. Fantastic coffee and chip butty. Will definitely visit again.Food: 5/5
Hmm. The tuna melt toastie wasn’t bad, nor were the chips. But the cheese on the jacket potato wasn’t melted, and there were hairs in the salads.
Shocking service especially from JC. Gave me a right mouthful cause I asked for veggie sausage, "Well they'll be a wait now, you should have ordered then first". Well I would have of I'd known none were already made. Foods awful too. Hash browns dripping in fat. This cafe has now lost all custom from my service users and we'll be eating at another more we'll established eatery from now on.
Rough . I'm all for cheap and cheerful but this is cheap and rubbish.I had a fried egg bap : You could smell the cheap margarine and the bap was horrible and crumbly.I only ate one mouthful and left - I'm assuming the suffers who go in there are regulars as the two women who were hovering near our table said thanks for keeping "Their" seats warm . Absolute dump.
Called in whilst on my way to Doctors. Asked for a latte coffee to 'take out' £2.35 on the price list on the wall above the coffee machine. Also picked up a fruit cake slice off the counter£2.45 labelled!! See receipt???
Down-to-earth, friendly cafe with a surprisingly wide menu for a small place. Children's meals, breakfasts, toasted sandwiches, baked potatoes, omelettes etc., plus sandwiches, scones and cakes, even some fresh fruit! Most impressive is the daily variety of hot lunches with fresh vegetables. If you live alone, not given to cooking, or elderly and it's an effort, you can get a proper dinner here without breaking the bank. E.g. Christmas dinner all thru December, shepherd's pie, substantial quiches. But equally, it is a lovely friendly place just for a social meet-up over coffee and a cake. There are a few sheltered tables outside for those who smoke. What makes this cafe special is the staff. All the ladies who work there are always cheerful, funny, interested in their customers, and remember them by name and preferences. Their ability to cope with every aspect of their job always amazes me, cooking, serving, cleaning, carrying on in the face of equipment failure, being assertive when necessary hardly ever & dealing with minor emergencies, like when I had a nosebleed! The cafe is also well-placed near ASDA, so there is parking. It is also next door to the Post Office, a bookies and ASDA opticians with the library, several hairdressers and many other shops a short walk away. In short, ideal for refreshment whatever you're doing. It is so well-used, I think a modern refurbishment would be beneficial. There is a large disabled toilet with baby changing facility. The second toilet is a tight space. Vegetarian options: There are definitely some options in sandwiches, jacket potatoes, omelettes, chips, fresh cooked veg, fresh fruit, cakes and hot quiche/flan, at least on occasion. Dietary restrictions: Some gluten free. Parking: The parking actually belongs to ASDA, as the cafe used to. So lots of free spaces with strict 2 hour limit or fined heavily. Play fair & shop in the store! There is a small neighbouring pay & display car park 2 minutes walk away. Kid-friendliness: Very child-friendly. Children's menu. Warm reception by staff and customers. Wheelchair accessibility: Some assistance may be needed to get through the double doors and extra space made to sit at a table. But I've never seen a time when help has not been forthcoming from both staff and other customers for anyone with mobility issues. There is a large disabled toilet, 2 doors being the only possible bugbear.
Cold, cheap b sauce, cheap bread....warmed up rubbish do not recommend also unbelievably expensiveFood: 1/5
Slow service. Had a sausage and egg sandwich. The bread was cheap and stale, almost like it was from one of those catering packs where all the teacakes have been pure cut and had been left out in the open overnight. The sausages seemed to have been left in the hot counter too long and the egg that had been freshly made was over cooked. To top it all they used cheap brown sauce as opposed to proper HP.
Went for a quick bite this lunchtime. Very very slow service. Staff on till didn’t know what they were selling and spoke to you as if you were a 6 year old. When the food arrived, wife got a jacket potato with salad which was ok. I got the Christmas special sandwich, far too much cranberry, the turkey and stuffing was quite nice, I also ordered at an extra cost a side of roast potatoes as offered on the menu these came cold and about 5 small ones. But the laughable part of my meal was the salad. A Slice of cucumber and a quarter of a tomato !! Won’t be using this cafe again.
