I have never complained about anything in life, as I accept people do get things wrong, but people also have a chance to rectify things also. But I do feel compelled to put pen to paper on this occasion. Awful experience. After spending money with this guys for my family., We settled on the grass next to the cafe. Not long after, were told off publicly by a lady who I think runs the place in full view of other customers using their tables and families sitting on the grass, that we were not allowed to move their chairs on to the grass. Totally unaware that the grass was not part of their remit, yet on the grass was a sign of theirs selling teas, coffees and hot chocolate... Anyway, I clearly wasn't going to accept the way the lady spoke to me and my family, I spoke to her that I wasnt happy in the way she spoke to us. In that space she became very defensive and started to argue with me saying why didn't I ask to move the chairs on the grass. I only had one come back to that as it was the only reason as their sign was on the grass, people would assume that the grass was theirs also. Now why wouldn't they just place a sign on the side of there shop to state that no chairs on the grass and not verbally attack their customers This complaint wasn't about me moving the chairs onto the grass as I accept that if it's not allowed, then now I know, it won't happen. It was the way she spoke to me and my family which I don't agree with. She needs to learn the basics of giving good customer service otherwise that business won't be around for long. She was rude and oblivious to all of the other customers around me by the hatch where I spoke to her. Only wanting to try and ignite the situation more by trying to argue with me and not to try and resolve it. I wouldn't recommend these guys based on my experience. Too ignorant to know what is good customer service.

I did not like the service. If you use the chairs and move them onto the grass they call that taking them away but the bit off grass is there land which I didn't get as I am a kid however there is this rude lady who pulled the chair of my great grandad and he didn't know what was going on but he nearly fell on the flour I twisted my ankle and the lady just wouldn't stop shouting but before that we said sorry but she still carried on like a mad women so me and my dad got up and told her how she should of acted at least to her costumers the other people started looking at her and thinking how rude is that women. This has made my day angry because of her.I don't get it but I'm a kid and I know better manners then her is that what she learnt from school the filthy animal.disgusting bad customer service bad impression and she needs to retire.

Just arrived sat down, day ruined by aggressive attitude and the way just been talked to by a member of staff at Barrys cafe because we had taken a chair to put on the grass for my disabled dad to sit on. No signs aywhere to say you can't put chairs on the grass. Lady was loud very rude and challenging with loads of people sitting around, she didn't care. Practically pulled the chair from underneath my dad, he's not steady on his feet. She was quite intimidating. We were the only Asians in a the vicinity just bought icecreams and food not cheap! Rude!!

Wonderful spot on the Riverside.. however we were told that if we sit at one of their tables, we are not allow to consume the homemade muffins that we brought even when we purchase hot beverages from them. Even though tables were all empty at the time, I agree that it was not an unreasonable request from the shop keeper - it's the way that he spoke to us that put us off. Anyway, it didn't ruin our day as there were benches all along the pavement literally 10 seconds walk from them; but I'd appreciate a smile on their face. Oh! I then read a sign that they put up at the back of their "booth" about hiring their tables and chairs - £5 per person per hour for a set of table and chairs AND the minimum spent is of 4 people. Ha, if only I saw this earlier..

Barry is a cantankerous old Git who needs lessons in Customer Service. Referring to regulars as 'proper customers' Tyrant. Spend yr money elsewhere.
