Loved our lunch in Cafe Rouge at Gun Wharf Quays in Portsmouth. Ambience, food and service excellent However devastated to find out Cafe Rouge is closing forever next week to become a Thai restaurant . We have so many fond memories of our family visits to Cafe Rouge and my son even worked in the Chichester branch when young which we frequented regularly. So sad it’s closing for good Vegetarian options: Very tasty and well presented.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Caffè Rouge in Portsmouth Harbour, and let me just say, the food was absolutely incredible! From the great starter of king prawns to the juicy and flavorful burger with camembert and bacon, every bite was pure bliss. But it wasn't just the food that impressed me. The atmosphere was lovely, creating the perfect setting for a delightful evening out. The restaurant was cozy and welcoming, with attentive staff that added to the already charming ambiance. In addition, the service was incredibly fast and efficient, which made for a stress-free dining experience. I was particularly impressed with the waitstaff, who were attentive, polite and friendly. They really made us feel welcomed and looked after from start to finish. Overall, I would highly recommend Caffè Rouge in Portsmouth Harbour to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a warm and inviting setting. With its exquisite food, good ambiance, and attentive service, it's definitely worth a visit!
Friendly quick service with polite staff. Food was great and would highly recommend. My only constructive comment is the the lack of 'how is everything' check ins between courses and we had to find a waiter to ask for the bill. Otherwise it would would great meal.Food: 5/5

It was amazing we managed to get a table outside! Perfect day and weather for outside dining under the shade of trees. Gorgeous location! Staff friendly. There's this massive hand sanitizer dispenser outside the restaurant as well! The steak was very tasty and perfect because we were so hungry! We even came back a couple days later for coffee as still lovely outside seating available. Good coffee and beautiful creme brûlée!!! Perfect place for a relaxing cup of coffee and dessert! Also noticed how the staff kept a polite distance from customers even if restrictions have been lifted. Very considerate and much appreciated!
Nice quiet venue. Good service, food was nice. I got the half chicken, it was a bit over cooked as I’m sure it sits there for a good few hours, needs to be cooked with some herbs also, but never mind. Would come back for sure. They do 25% blue light discount selected days!!!
Nice relaxed location next to the canal with lots of outside seating, we have had breakfast two days in a row here and enjoyed It, this restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere and the service is spot on. We slightly changed our choice of breakfast this morning I had the eggs with Salmon and my girlfriend had the Bacon and scrambled eggs. Very good coffee and interesting menu.
So, I came in for desserts. Outside, I read that they serve “freshly baked” scones. I ordered that with a cappuccino. It took them a while to serve the scone. And it came looking this! As displayed in the photo. This is just the top view. Too bad I didn’t get a photo of the sides that were just BURNT! I’ve had many scones before and NONE of them looked as brown and burnt as this!!! And the manager insisted that it’s normal and if they’d baked another scone, it would still look the same. Oh My Gawd!!! Sorry, but I’m no fool. You guys be the judge. So, I ordered a Lemon Tart instead. £3+ more expensive than the scone. Is this their strategy to “upsell”?!?! Hahaha! Terrible!
Never been before thought we try something new, the place had a good atmosphere and felt very comfortable. Food service was excellent would come again as it's the only one close to where we live nearly 59miles away .
This is a lovely venue with the restaurant having a good layout and characterful decor. There are good social distancing measures in place and the venue is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and polite if a little 'going through the motions'. All orders were very quick. We only stopped for coffee and a little dessert during this visit but all was great. Worth a visit if you're in Gunwharf Quay.6
