This campsite is all about the view. Waking up every morning and looking straight out to sea first thing is really special and gives a really dramatic feeling to staying here. Loos and showers are rustic but clean and functional and there are plenty of water points and recycling on site. The area is gorgeous with loads to see and do. The only downside is the access which is incredibly tight, which I know isn't the sites fault but more could be done to make it easier.
It’s the first time I have stayed at a camp site with camp fires but without electric hook up. It was a compromise being as my husband loves “wild camping” and I’m used to having “facilities”. This was somewhere in the middle! The facilities were very clean. The proprietors were seen walking around throughout the day, periodically cleaning the toilets and showers and were obviously very busy and working hard. All of the pitches have a full view of the sea, with plenty of rock pools with a large pebble and stone beach in front of the pitches and if you walk along the beach to the right you will find more sandy beaches. It’s a genuinely lovely place and it was fun having trains going by every now and then. Their famous Welsh lamb burgers cook yourself were absolutely divine. I highly recommend Cae Du farm.
One of our favourite campsites! Beautiful views, lots of space for campers and wood fires are allowed encouraged. Facilities are clean and well located in the centre of the campsite. There's a large washing up area that also has two freezers and washing machine/drier. Don't forget your £1 coins for the shower.
Lovely relaxed campsite, but windy! Can have fire and buy wood from the owners. Great views of the Llyn. Not the best beach for swimming as very rocky but nice walking. Very clean loos and showers - bring £1 coins for how shower. Can use the freezer. Is washing machine for coins too.
By far the best campsite I have ever been to. The owners are lovely and so so welcoming, the facilities are super clean and the view to die for. You will get battered if windy or stormy because you are so exposed. The view is out of this world though. Every morning you wake up to the waves crashing on the shore....spacious pitches, very environmentally friendly with strict rules on recycling which was appreciated. Absolutely incredible. We will be back soon for longer. Neighbours saw seals and dolphins, we missed out but didnt spoil our experience. Thank you so much for our amazing experience. It was perfect. Sam and Sian x
1st time visiting here in over 10 years. Still as beautiful as I remember. Had an amazing long weekend. Camp fires every night. Watched Dolphins for over an hour on Saturday. Stunning sunsets. Will be back very soon. Thanks
Cae Du’s location makes camping here quite memorable. Awkward but accessible from a sharp bend on the coast road, the site occupies a stretch of rocky coastline. It’s proud and accurate claim is that “every pitch has the same sea view” Find your own spot is the method - many probably all ‘pitches’ have a fire pit constructed from beach stones and logs are sold by the proprietors. The actual ground is unkempt so don’t expect manicured camping pitches in the accepted sense, nor was there evidence of electrics. That said, the facility block had everything necessary for campers with a useful addition of laundry machines. These, like the showers require feeding with £1 coins - coin meters are a noticeable feature here. Toilets and £1 showers were clean and tidy. Of course, the attraction here is the coastline location. Evening sunsets were lovely and the obvious lack of light pollution made for beautiful starry nights - enhanced by a warming log fire, perhaps. The accessible beach provides opportunities for swimming, sea kayaking and fishing so the £15/night charged for my single tiny backpacker tent was acceptable for the surroundings and facilities provided. Plenty to appreciate on this campsite.
Beautiful location and stunning views. Owners were not very friendly. Female owner was downright rude... I had my dog with me as I looked for electrical sockets in the toilet building. I didn't go into them, just popped my head in and she told me to tie my dog up at the end of the block... I then asked her about an extension lead that a fellow camper had told me about but couldn't find, to which she replied it's round the back, when I asked if she would shoe me because I'd already looked and couldn't see it, she rolled her eyes at me... unnecessary rudeness. They charge you to use the shower, why not just add it to the price? It is a field on the side of a cliff. Not much to do. Shops are 20 minute drive away. Fairbourne is 10 minutes away and has a lovely beach to visit as well as a little town with shops and amusements. The beach at cae du isn't really a beach that you can walk along. If you want to stay at your tent/van and relax with no music then this place is perfect. If you have kids or there is a group of you, I wouldn't recommend at all. I won't be returning to be treated as an inconvenience again.
A lovely hideaway campsite on grass above the beach. As it is right on the coast, it was quite windy but very refreshing. There is no electric hookup or hard standings so it's very basic but great for that 'get away from it all' experience. The sunsets were amazing! There are many stone built firepits and you can buy wood from the farmhouse. Everything else that you need, you will need to bring with you or travel the 4 miles or so into Twywn. The private beach is not sand but pebbles and boulders but my dogs enjoyed sniffing everything. It was difficult to get to the sea because of the expanse of boulders and rocks and for this reason, and the fact that there is no entertainment or playground, I would not recommend for a long stay with children, but it was ideal for a break for myself and my husband and our dogs. I would definitely go back here.
Beautiful !!! I have a theory, those that have left negative reviews have done so to try and put others off to keep this little gem for themselves !!! After my second visit here I thought it only best to give it the 5 stars it deserves. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, being polite and respectful to them goes a long way, they do seem to have a dry sense of humor. Access - no problems in a 6M long motorhome, 3.1 m high - tunnel is bigger than it looks. Whilst we were staying, there was even a converted Leyland DAF army vehicle which was huge and seemed to have no problems getting in and out. Fire wood - £6 a bag which isn't bad, we successfully had fires every night although I'd recommend taking an axe to make smaller kindling. Showers were a £1 which is reasonable, they are hot and seem to go on forever. Pitches are huge, yes you may struggle to find level pitches and even with levelling ramps you may still be on the wonk - but you're literally on a cliff next to the see which outweighs the negatives of this. Other reviews state the lady analyses rubbish ? Yes the lady owner is down at the bins most mornings. I'm guessing there may be a reason for this, maybe the council are strict on what is recycled and what isn't, or she cares about the environment? Anyway it seemed quite often people wouldn't put the correct waste in the correct bins and I believe she is within her right to sort this out, and can only imagine it gets frustrating when people don't care about recycling. This is such a peaceful, serene, calming, beautiful site, there's no electric, it's no frills and compared to other sites which are as basic it may seem expensive - but arrive with an open mind with little expectations, allow yourself to relax and just suck in the beautiful sea air, gorgeous sunsets and sit back next to your campfire whilst looking at the stars. It's just simply amazing, and in my view reasonably priced for such an experience.
