We visited this place as a family. My mother was on her electric scooter. This place was accessible but a lot of the routes were way too steep. Her scooter went out of control twice. The cable car ride was short and we got to the other side pretty quickly. We also visited the historic caves which was included in this excursion. Anyone with a mobility or heart condition are not recommended to visit these caves. This excursion involved 175 steps. It was nice and cool in the caves. The other end was a nice view point where we took loads of pics. From kids point of view their were slides, swings and a puppet show. We also visited the high street nearby where we had fish and chips as brunch. Even though we visited this place on a Monday their was no parking whatsoever. We ended up parking on the high street which took 20 minutes to find.
Lovely place to visit for half a day out. Lots of walking around though, uphill and downhill, so brace yourself for that! The cave tour was pretty good too. Good cafe with a great view and clean toilets everywhere. Two play areas that I'm aware of for the kids. Cable car ride was shorter than expected but eh, definitely worth a visit if you're driving from closeby.
We spent a good few hours here when visiting the local area. The heights are dog friendly, they even gave him some treats once we arrived at the top - he was very pleased! The staff are really knowledgeable giving a great overview of the site and it's history. There is a Cave tour too, this part isn't dog friendly but there is a lovely walk that meets up with the end of the tour so I did this whilst my husband did the tour. The views from the top were absolutely beautiful!
Cable cars are fun! 6 max in one carriage. Easy to get on and off even for kids. Met by a lovely man at the top dressed in period costume. Went into the top cave first before lines started. Old mining cave really, but interesting- is 7° so wrap up. It's very steep everywhere, especially to get to the bottom cave. Steps are ridiculously high so we went via the longer slope and still had to stop sporadically. Lots of lovely views and plenty of play areas for the kids. Proper slides. Tall tower you can climb up and see out from the top. Dogs welcome although not in the caves. Rockshop was great and the information centre. We got there at 10am and had finished by noon when it was just getting really busy.
Great half day out. Cable car ride and entry to 2 caverns included in the price. Plenty of picnic areas if you choose to bring your own lunch, but there is a restaurant and cafe onsite, along with gift shop and ice cream vendor. Quite hilly walkways so west comfortable footwear. Best part are the vistas from the vantage point, the best vista is from the top of the tower. Well worth a visit!
Great day out, what stunning views when you reach the top of the hill. The cable car was very secure which was great as I'm petrified of heights so really helped with my anxiety. The cable car does stop halfway up which can be a little unnerving but this is stop to the cars bumping into each other in wind. The restaurant at top is great and serves refreshments and light meals.the caves are very informative and included in the price. We visited at beginning of September and it was £24 each.
Had a great time here. Arrived early for first cable car up. Was quiet to begin with but the place soon got bussier. The two cave tours were great. The guides Ian and Steve were fantastic as were all the other staff members. Food at the cafe was amazing as was the service. Would come back.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Nice place to spend some family time. Great views. I spent there 2 hours with family and to be honest we were in rush to catch piece of everything. We've seen caverns and Tower. We took a minute to stop at long view point. There are 2 playgrounds which my daughter enjoyed but sadly we haven't enough time to stop for longer. There is few restaurants. Last cable car run is just before 5 pm. Dogs are allowed everywhere apart from caverns.
So many brilliant things to do which are all included in the price of the ticket. This is a great place to take children. I'd reccomend wearing walking boots or comfy shoes as there's a lot of big slopes and hills. Maybe take a light jacket as the caves are about 4 degrees inside. The staff were all lovely and the cave tour guides were a highlight of our visit.
Lovely place to visit, cable car up and down with beautiful views on the way. Went into both caves, our tour guide Russ/Ross was brilliant; really knows his stuff and makes it both interesting and enjoyable. Lots of hills and steps around - the map makes the place look larger than it feels but things are pretty close together which is good. The most strenuous walk is to and from the tavern / Rutland cavern. Couple of good play areas for kids. Overall, staff very pleasant. Took our own lunch but food looked good although quite expensive but that is expected at a visitor attraction.
