Indian street food - cooked to restaurant quality - and then served in cardboard bowls may have created a niche market, but it is a far cry from any street food I have eaten in India. There is a good atmosphere, and the story of the company is well told on menus and on the tables. There was enough food on the combo for 4, but it was like a small taster menu rather a meal for 4. It was tapas, Indian style.
Another amazing experience at another Bundobust. We were in a weird time where we were hungry but it wasn’t quite dinnertime, so we were skeptical as to how busy it would be. The venue is deceptively quite big, from the outside it looks small. As we entered, it was buzzing with atmosphere considering it looked so dark from the outside! The food arrived fast, hot and fresh. As part of for Bundobust, the bhaji and paneer dishes are amazing. The menu also had some seasonal dishes made for the Euros including their version of a Wigan kebab The whole experience is always good with Bundobust and this was no exception. Would recommend.
I visited Bundobust Leeds for the first time last Wednesday. I was greeted by the very kind staff member Easy. They made me feel very welcome and asked where I would like to sit down. I chose the table to the left. Easy gave me the menu to look at. While I was deciding what to i wanted on the menu, I soaked up the atmosphere. I really enjoyed the Indian playlist that was playing, the interior decor with old memorabilia , photographs on the wall. I went to the counter to order a pinot of tropical dhoop, a fruit wheat beet and Lunch express Combo. I selected the chole saag and the bundle chaat. The tropical fruit wheat beer was really nice. Very tasty, fruity beer. I enjoyed the Bundo Chaat and chole saag dishes. Nice rich flavoured vegetarian dishes that filles you up The Bundo Chaat consists of layers of samosa pastry, chickpea, onion, sec and chilly sauce. It came with yoghurt and tamarind chutney. The Chole Saag is made out of chickpeas & spinach, garam massala, onion and ginger. It served with puri. For dessert I decided to try another beer. I chose the mango lassi pale ale. It was an amazing beer that I tasted. It had notes of vanilla, mango, lassi yoghurt all in the beer. It was a delight. The Indian street food restaurant is quite spacious, and has many seats to sit down. They also a big courtyard area with outdoor seating available. The highlight of this visit was meeting the Bundobust founders Mayur and Marcos and having a nice conversation with them. Two very friendly cool guys that are very approachable and down to earth. Before leaving I bought 2 tropical lassi sour beer to try later. This tropical mango lassi sour beer has notes of mango, orange & pineapple. I’m excited to taste it later at home. I’ll be definitely visiting Bundobust Leeds again when I’m in the Leeds area for work. I recommend locals, tourists and visitors in Leeds to enjoy a nice meal there at Bundobust. Vegetarian options: Bundobust has a variety of vegetarian and vegan options.
Have been to Bundobust a couple of times and absolutely love it. The food is delicious! As a pescatarian it feels like a real treat to be able to eat absolutely everything on the menu, and it’s a great place to take any vegan friends who are visiting us. I especially love the Chole Saag and Paneer Kadai Vegetarian options: Everything is vegetarian and a lot is vegan.
We loved it. The food was delicious, served in small plates, the beer selection was great and the staff was very friendly. I cannot recommend it enough.Food: 5/5
Amazing place to have street eat style dining experience. This is a rare vegetarian restaurant located right at the city center. Evenings tend to be crowded and there can be a wait time of 10-20 mins. Perfect ambience, mumbai chowparty style decor and sitting, peppy music, helpful staff and delicious food. Must try: okra fries, paneer tikka, ragda patties. For connoisseurs of drinks, they have a variety of drafts on tap and some really unique flavours which you would rarely find elsewhere.
I haven’t been to a Bundobust for ages but absolutely love this Indian street food restaurant, tucked away not far from Leeds Railway Station. It was pretty warm when we arrived so it was great to be able to sit “outside”but under cover. Everything on the menu looked so delicious with firm favourites such as Vada Pav on offer. We had some of the snacks then 4 dishes between two, plus a mango lassi for approximately £33 which I thought excellent value. Portions are generous so although the menu suggests 2-3 dishes per person we didn’t manage to finish it all. The staff are great and very knowledgeable. It’s a lovely welcoming atmosphere and very relaxed. Order at the bar and the food is brought out to your table. Toilet facilities washrooms are unisex and located towards the rear of the restaurant. We visited on a Sunday but I noticed that they have a lunchtime express menu on weekdays which looked tasty and good value. Highly recommended!
Great service with a great casual atmosphere. Prices are reasonable for the city centre and this food was plenty for the two of us. Generally the food was great but we felt the dhal could have done with more seasoning salt on the tables would be handy and the potato flatbreads were burnt on the bottom, but I’m sure the staff would have fixed if we’d raised it, we were just in a rush. Would definitely come back again and give some other dishes a go.
Meaning to go and sample … went for a brunch … amazing! 90 mins of great food and drink in a lovely chilled environment! Best brunch in Leeds! Please do againFood: 5/5
Rated #2 to eat out in Leeds Timeout and a very sturdy review count. It doesn't live up to the hype. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't so excited to go. As my Indian friend eating with us put it perfectly, "it's great for non-Indian people who like re-heated food.". They served us about 3 incorrect dishes. For the 2 we had energy to mention, they promptly replaced them. Too promptly, proving my friend likely correct that it is reheated food. The wet food was very average wet meaning curry with sauce. However, all the over dishes I loved and all of us in attendance did agree that the food wasn't bad. Why on earth were they playing constant drum and bass, and I mean cocaine mdma style heavy stuff, borderline dubstep - I just don't know. It's a vibe but a stupid vibe for eating out. The cocktails were awesome. Who on earth goes to an Indian restaurant for cocktails, though. All Indian restaurants cater very well to vegetarians and vegans, so the fact that it's exclusively vegetarian is positive, but not a big deal for Indian cuisine. It's worth a try, but temper your expectations.
